Hilarious!

I loved the humor here, subtly poking fun of the thriller genre. Finally- a hero and woman on the run together that don’t have wild sex and fall in love. Refreshing!

Poor narrator

If you are from the south, you make hear a mish-mash of different southern regions’ accents used interchangeably and the word usage pretty wrong. A lawyer was speaking at times like a brick-layer, which doesn’t track. The story was fine, but the narrator was hard to take.

I thought I was watching a H*llmark movie for a while. Successful, educated professional woman goes home to small town and decides to stay. It was no fun in the big city, but the small town fulfills her needs. I just can’t see a patent attorney enjoying working in a restaurant. How will she pay off those monumental student loans, now? From her waitressing tip
money? No one that smart who doesn’t like to cook would want to run a restaurant. Ugh. I liked the middle eastern theme, and the cat.

Good plot, too much banter.

The characters could have been really interesting if everyone wasn’t so Stepford-like. Everyone was insanely cheery all the time, and I admit I didn’t care for all the movie and music references. Way too much of that. Not sure I’m going to keep reading.

How can an assassin who can kill so ruthlessly and without remorse have so many sentimental feelings? How could she be so recklessly stupid? This protagonist was difficult to like. I don’t expect to continue the series.

There were several logical breaks in the little things that were aggravating (doesn’t have a car, but is suddenly driving around; gave up her cell phone, but was still calling people) and showed poor editing. The mystery, when solved, had some holes in the logic. Fairly entertaining, but won’t keep listening to the series. MC acted ditzy, which I don’t care for.

The plot was okay, but the preachy religious stuff was a real turn-off. I’ll avoid this author in the future.

Don’t get this for the tree-cat!

This was a tedious book with a lot of dull narrative that didn’t hold my attention. The tree-cat was not involved to any extent, so don’t read this book for that reason. Read it for the mind-numbing discussions of tactics, the extended battle scenes, the discussions of fleet and planetary politics (yawn), and the strong female protagonist (its only redeeming feature).
