As early as Primary, you may have absorbed this confusing message: "God loves us....but He's so disappointed in you". For a religion that preaches hope, the message of "do more" often seems to win out. With so many programs, assignments, callings, commandments, standards, and honor codes, how can you keep up? The adversary highlights the shame you feel when you constantly fall short. Do you feel only heaviness as you consider the Latter-Day Saint path to exaltation? How can God not be disappointed in someone like me?

I'm not even through the introduction but I already love it. Shame is such a difficult emotion, and isn't talked about nearly enough. The narration is heartfelt and engaging. Excited to dive in!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned so much. I am so glad there is a book like this out there, because it is much needed. Even though I didn't serve a mission, and am not close to anyone who came home early, I am so glad I read this. I would also like to add, the discussions of doctrine such as forgiveness, repentance, faith, etc. was really beneficial to me just as an average person. I gained a lot of inspiration and insight for me personally. Again, beautifully written. The narration is well done and pleasant to listen to. I am going to recommend this book to family, friends, and church leaders.
