Probably better than I rated it.

The book was well written. The characters weren't super powerful and came across as surprisingly human. And it was well performed. But I kept finding myself hitting the pause button and stopping to listen to other things, I guess because in most of my audiobook listening experience I like a slightly lighter tone. I don't want to feel too emotionally involved when in the gym, on an airplane, or even driving. And that made the book feel awfully long so it falls short of 5 stars. That said I'll probably pick up the sequel when it comes out.

Middle book syndrome.

The book was good. And I finished it without issue or much complaint about the performance or material. But I don't think it stands up as a book on its own merits very well. If you don't plan on continuing on the book 3 or beyond I wouldn't recommend it. If you do, well just don't expect much to be resolved within these pages.

Disappointing

I find the narrator to dry and uninspiring like listing to an often repeated history lesson.
As this is a collection, book 1 was so slow I have a hard time believing I finished it. I don't think I would have bought book 2, but as I already had it I continued to listen, and might have given book 2, an average 3 star rating. But book 3 was even worse and I gave up midway through.
