Historia
Tarzan cared little for the fate of adventurer Brian Gregory, drawn to the legendary city of Ashair by the rumor of the Father of Diamonds, the world’s hugest gem. But to the ape-man the tie of friendship is unbreakable, and Paul d’Arnot’s pleas move him to agree to guide the expedition Gregory’s father and sister have organized for his rescue. The enigmatic Atan Thome is also obsessed with the Father of Diamonds, and has planted agents in the Gregory safari to spy out its route and sabotage its efforts.

Family Guy as Tarzan Cast
Revisado: 01-01-24
I appreciate Dooley's enthusiasm, but his sing song narration is hard to listen to, and the exaggerated Family Guy style cartoon nature of the characters are so not fitting for a Tarzan book. I looked up his other readings, and they are cartoon animals and one bio. The sample in the bio shows he can read in a somewhat more listenable fashion, but overall, despite my love of ERB Tarzan novels, I just can't justify getting any more read by Dooley. I sincerely hope someone else releases these with a different narrator.

Historia
Somewhere in the heart of Africa, a young archaeologist disappeared in the remote jungle mountains - Erich von Harben, son of an old missionary friend of Tarzan of the Apes. Now the ape-man seeks to rescue the lost scholar. The trail leads to a mysterious valley where Tarzan discovers two surviving outposts of ancient Rome, virtually unchanged by time. And there, Tarzan is thrust into the bloody gladiatorial arena, doomed to face every peril the cruel and corrupt emperor of Castra Sanguinarius can devise to ensure the ape-man’s death.

Narrator Awful, Great Story but Unlistenable
Revisado: 12-17-23
The story is fun, one of my favorite Tarzan books. But the reading is pretty much Unlistenable. Between overly dramatic voices, and sing song narrative, it is awful. And unfortunately Ben Dooley is the only one reading the latter books in the Tarzan series. I may try another by him, and see if he gets any better, but hopefully another narrator will redo these. Phil must be a relative.

Narrator Sings His Words
Revisado: 10-22-22
Not quite the Tarzan I grew up with, but nice to hear new stories. However the narrator "sings" his words, modulating his tone to such fanciful extremes it makes it almost unlistenable. I hope these are redone with another narrator sometime. Just plain reading would have been better.

Historia
Voyage from Yesteryear is a 1982 science fiction novel by the author James P. Hogan. It explores themes of anarchism and the appropriateness of certain social values in the context of high-technology. The inspiration for the novel was the contention that the ongoing conflict in Northern Ireland had no immediate practical solution, and could only be solved if the children of one generation were somehow separated from their parents, and hence did not learn any of their prejudices.

The reader was fantastic, it was a pleasure to hear the story just from his versatility and ability. The prose was great, the story a classic, if a bit odd in places.

Life Changing
Revisado: 11-15-19
As always, Dan's books are life changing. something to listen to and practice over and over until it becomes integrated Action. Coming from a fairly conservative Christian background, some of the numerology, etc. stuff makes me a little uncomfortable, but I look at at as symbolic, and helping me to live God's purpose for me, which it definitely does. And St Paul puts it in perspective, when he states that not everything in the Bible is the direct word of God, that some are his prophets and teachers perspectives on life at that time.

surprisingly deep, and full of lessons
Revisado: 01-23-19
very unusual book, love the Zen koan like aspects, as the story develops. one I can re-read over and over. the male centered focus may turn off some women readers, but if you read the characters as people, rather than man or woman, it can appeal to all. a story that teaches and entertains.
