Historia
There would have been no KISS without Gene Simmons, the outrageous star whose superlong tongue, legendary sexual exploits, and demonic makeup have made him a rock icon. KISS and Make-Up is the wild, shocking, unbelievable story, from the man himself, about how an immigrant boy from Israel studied to be a rabbi, was saved by rock and roll, and became one of the most notorious rock stars the world has ever seen.

Great if you are KISS fan - which I am.

If you could sum up Kiss and Make-Up in three words, what would they be?
Rock and Roll!
Any additional comments?
It's strange how Gene reads. I guess it's like a bass player perhaps. Or someone who has English as a second language. There is no transition in his voice from one story to the next. It actually almost feels like the book was written by someone else and he was reading it cold. But I still always prefer the author read his own work.

Historia
Renowned neurologist David Perlmutter, MD, blows the lid off a topic that's been buried in medical literature for far too long: carbs are destroying your brain. And not just unhealthy carbs, but even healthy ones like whole grains can cause dementia, ADHD, anxiety, chronic headaches, depression, and much more.

If you could sum up Grain Brain in three words, what would they be?
Diet heals you!
Any additional comments?
This was about the fifth book I've read about the decline of the quality of foods we eat due to the extreme processing of foods, specifically grains, plus heated oils and artificial sweeteners. Having changed my diet at age 53 to become in line with this book, and books like it, my thinking has become clear again, my muscle-to-fat ratio is still becoming more preferable (even though I was already pretty lean). But my energy has improved through balancing my blood sugar, my endurance training is getting better – literally every week seeing faster times and improved strength – my whole quality of life has improved. Dr. Perlmutter's approach has been incredibly beneficial.

Historia
Losing your memory? Can't focus or concentrate? Do you have brain fog or tire easily? Have you lost your zest for life or motivation? Do people tell you this is all a normal part of aging? If so, your brain may be growing old too fast, or degenerating. Modern diets, a stressful lifestyle, and environmental toxins all take their toll on the brain. This doesn't just happen to seniors - brain disorders and degeneration are on the rise for young and old alike. The good news is the brain is extremely adaptable and wants to get well.

What did you love best about Why Isn't My Brain Working??
It's so rewarding when a book actually provides principles that change your life for the better. This book did that by providing so many examples of dietary healing.

Like a Bible for Success

Any additional comments?
Ever since I bought the hard copy of this book probably six or seven years ago, and then the recording on audible a couple of years ago, I have continued to read and/or listen to it two-to-three times a year. While the audio version is great for training on my long rides and runs, the reason I give it four stars is because it's truncated. The unabridged hard copy truly is like a Bible for Success - and I highly recommend it as a required addition to any library. I've never read a more inspiring book.
