Historia
The best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia focuses on "minor geniuses" and idiosyncratic behavior to illuminate the ways all of us organize experience in this "delightful" (Bloomberg News) collection of writings from The New Yorker. What is the difference between choking and panicking? Why are there dozens of varieties of mustard-but only one variety of ketchup? What do football players teach us about how to hire teachers? What does hair dye tell us about the history of the 20th century?

Another Great Gladwell Work!
Revisado: 01-20-11
This is a great book, on par with all Gladwell's other works. I found the very last few chapters to be the most interesting and applicable for my personal taste (small business owner), but the entire book was wonderful. Easy and enjoyable to listen to while at the same time very informative and eye-opening.

Historia
An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

Depresing but Engaging
Revisado: 12-26-10
This was a typically Grisham novel- well composed, well written, but... totally depressing. You'll see...

Historia
As soon as the financial crisis erupted, the finger-pointing began. Should the blame fall on Wall Street, Main Street, or Pennsylvania Avenue? On greedy traders, misguided regulators, sleazy subprime companies, cowardly legislators, or clueless home buyers? According to Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera, two of America's most acclaimed business journalists, the real answer is all of the above-and more. Many devils helped bring hell to the economy.

Great Book
Revisado: 12-26-10
This was a very thorough and detailed book. However, I must admit it was a bit above my ability to follow every tentacle of the data (and I have a Masters Degree in Finance!). I think this might be one that would be better READ and notated in order to gain the fullest benefit from the extremely detailed and thorough examination of the factors leading to the current financial crisis.

Anticlimactic Ending
Revisado: 12-26-10
This book was definitely exciting and it held my attention. However, the exposition was odd because it started with its focus on a character that you don't see again anywhere in the book. The ending was totally abrupt and rather anticlimactic. Had I actually read the whole thing (rather than listened to it on a long plane ride), I think I would have felt as if I had wasted my time... Good story but I'd rank the actual writing structure as a 1 (out of 5).

The tomb of China’s First Emperor, guarded by an underground army of terra-cotta warriors, has remained sealed for more than 2,000 years. Though it’s regarded as one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world, the Chinese government won’t allow anyone to open it.

Must be focused to listen!
Revisado: 12-26-10
This book is interesting but I have found it very difficult to keep track of all the names and their associated roles... I am only halfway but have had to restart it twice and finally ended up writing a character list. It might just "be me", or the ethnocentricity of being blocked for non-Euro-American names, but it is really causing me to lose sight of the entertainment value. Plus, unless there is some crazy twist at the very end, it seems that the end is revealed in the Prologue (!?)

Good Book
Revisado: 11-24-10
While the voice of the narrator was a bit bland, the book itself was interesting enough to hold my attention. It jumped around a bit but even if I allowed several days between listening sessions, I was able to pretty quickly get back up to speed.
