Historia
All her life, Annie has played it nice and safe. After being unceremoniously dumped by her longtime boyfriend, Annie seeks a fresh start. She accepts a teaching position that moves her from Manhattan to a small village upstate. She’s stunned by how perfect and picturesque the town is. The people are all friendly and warm. Her new apartment is dreamy too, minus the oddly persistent spider infestation. Then Annie meets Sophie. Beautiful, charming, magnetic Sophie, who takes a special interest in Annie, who wants to be her friend.

Don't be suspicious
Revisado: 02-17-23
Okay, I was totally suspicious throughout the book. When the "Ah ha! I knew it!" moment came in the book - I was wrong. I want a Sophie - we all need a Sophie in our lives. I do wish her character were a bit more fleshed out. I mean, yes - I get the idea, it's all mystery and snake and mirrors and such, but so much more could have been done with that perhaps in the sequel we will see a more complete Sophie. Otherwise - highly recommend, very lighthearted, not too mushy, not spooky, just right read.

In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
Revisado: 02-21-22
From page one - edge of your seat, need to get up for work in the morning and still stay up all night reading! I couldn’t wait to get back to my book as soon as possible. The CATS! They were 100% cat- they were so REAL. It was all so real. I don’t have enough good words for this book. I want to describe the journey of this book and the adventures of the characters therein - but it would give too much away. Just get the book!!

Hung on ever word!
Revisado: 04-18-21
This story really has you following along. The characters are “full bodied” and well thought out. We get enough back story in each of the important players to know them and predict their next moves. The little hints along the way are intriguing and encourage late night night going instead of sleeping. Excellent read!

Historia
Motherhood has turned out to be a lot weirder and lonelier than Mary anticipated - has the world gone crazy, or has she? Most of the time, it feels like both. But when her oldest starts kindergarten, Mary meets another mom, Fiona, and the two form an unusual yet exhilarating friendship. There’s only one problem: Mary doesn’t really like Fiona’s husband, Andreas. What begins as a minor irritation keeps intensifying and changing shape in Mary’s mind as Andreas’s perceived wrongdoings pile up, until she can’t distinguish integrity from self-sabotage.

No ending !
Revisado: 09-09-20
The story ends in the middle of the story! The main question of the story is never answered. You feel as if you are getting closer to an answer as the story goes on, fully expecting the question to be resolved by the end of the book. It is not. Instead, a mystery line is inserted as if it was part of the story all along, as if you were reading a reincarnation story or a si-fi mystery but it was only alluded to on the last page - that would be fine if it were Co tinies or explained - but it ends just ends - where is the rest of the story and a fuller exploration of the odd one liner at the close of the story !?!

As I listened to the story, I gained real insight on what it would be like in both sides of the fence. For the person in the psych ward and the person taking care of the psych patient. Very interesting.

Riveting

After listening to this, I have so much more compassion towards users. The entire book is sooo relatable , even if you have never been in any of those situations. I really appreciate that the author read the book, I appreciate that she was honest. I always wondered “what the heck was going threw so and so head?” When I hear it on the news - I feel like I have a little insight as to what goes on on those heads. I get it - and there but for the grace of God go I.

Enthralling
Revisado: 08-30-19
The reader of the book was most excellent, I k ew who was speaking with each character. The voice inflections were great - giving each person a personality that fit the I intent of the author. The book/ story itself was spell binding...I could t stop listening. It’s a love story really, between a strong, stuttering man, and a simple girl that rise to greatness - both figuratively and literally!
