Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Story is great nut narrators read slowly
Revisado: 10-22-21
Tried to increase the speed but cant beyond 1.4 before audio gets distorted. I may switch to just reading this one unfortunately.

Its long but keeps me hooked
Revisado: 11-03-11
There is no doubt about it, this is a long book. But I'm use to it from Neal Stephenson's other works. Its got virtual worlds, hackers, terrorists and mobsters! And feels like some of his earlier works (Snow Crash) and the pacing and characters keep you going. My only gripe is the reader isn't very tech savvy and hasn't been coached on how to say certain technical jargon which takes me out of the story for a bit and I have to tell myself to let it go :)

Interesting Concept and Excellent Narration
Revisado: 10-12-04
I found this book very slow to get into. My husband, who had just finished listening to the book himself, urged me to continue on. I'm glad I did. I found that I could not put this book down. I thought the story line was very original and I liked to hear about all of the history of the Vatican. The narrator did an excellent job, I would like to listen to other books that he has narrated.
The end of the book slowed down again too. I kept thinking that I was at the end of the book but it continued on. I definitely think that the end could have been about half the length. To add to it, I thought the very last line was highly disappointing.

Great Book But...
Revisado: 09-01-04
I loved this book, but I had to give it a low review because I couldn't handle the narrators any longer. I'll be buying the 2nd and 3rd books (paper) now that I have found that out that all 3 books are done by the same people.
The narration isn't bad per-say but it does make you want to take a nap even during what could have been the more exciting parts of the book.
Buy these books, but not to listen to, but to read.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Nartation is key
Revisado: 06-28-04
With SNOW CRASH, narration is key. And this book as by-far the best narration I have heard in an audiobook.
The book is fast paced and full of interesting worlds and characters. Its very diverse and considering when the book was published and how the 'net and world has taken shape since adds some food for thought.
The book is very cyberpunk -- if you like the genre or just a little curious then this book is a must buy!

Historia
Cayce Pollard is an expensive, spookily intuitive market-research consultant. In London on a job, she is offered a secret assignment: to investigate some intriguing snippets of video that have been appearing on the Internet. An entire subculture of people is obsessed with these bits of footage, and anybody who can create that kind of brand loyalty would be a gold mine for Cayce's client. But when her borrowed apartment is burgled, she realizes there's more to this project than she had expected.

Tommy
Revisado: 06-28-04
I also have an allergic reaction to Tommy, so I related well to Case.
Everything about this book I loved, the concepts and feelings that Case feels are real ones while the setting is fun and interesting. This is not a typical Gibson book, there is no cyberpunks here, just interesting characters in interesting situations.
Now where can I find the next piece of the footage?

Fun for all ages
Revisado: 06-28-04
Although I found the book a formulaic fantasy novel, it was still enjoyable and well read. The characters were well developed but since this is a three book series it still leaves a lot that needs to be fleshed out -- but that is part of the draw, the mystery.
I say all ages because its target age is teens, but I'm almost 30 and still had loads of fun with this title
