Would you listen to Wanderers: Ragnarök again? Why?

YES! Firstly, I LOVED this story. It's an imagination-run-wild sort of tale. There's so, so much to it, and the author really deftly intertwined and utilized his skil to propel the narrative forward. The narrator though, took it over the top. Honestly, one of the best audiobooks I've listened to in a while (and my standards are pretty high)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rafe. Absolutely.

What does Johnny Mack bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice is full and rich. Bodied, I guess is a good word. He differentiates between speakers superbly.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several, but I don't want to ruin the listen for folks who haven't read the book.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to listen to the next book when it's out on audio!

If you could sum up DEAD: The Geeks (Vol.1) in three words, what would they be?

Nope- not three words. Sorry #notsorry

Personally, I don't mind convoluted books that jump around from different storylines/characters; but it is also nice sometimes to read a linear story. DEAD: The Geeks combines some of the best elements of the DEAD series, but focuses on 'the geeks' only, which really lets the readers sink deeply into the characters and what is happening to them. The geeks aren't geeks in the computer sense really (that's not how I view them, at least); they're more horror mongers or 'zombie geeks' as TW puts it. They're obsession over zombies being the best thing since sliced bed quickly morphs into a crap reality where survival overrides anything cool about the z-apoc. Now, these characters already exist in the DEAD world and this book actually fills in little pieces, like a puzzle, to the backstory and current circumstances of the characters- Kevin, Mike, Darrin, & Cary. I actually listened to this before I started reading some of the other DEAD books. You really don't need to be versed in what's happened in the main series to get into this book, it's honestly a standalone. This book is definitely worth the listen and I give it full stars! Although, I do have to admit that it doesn't beat the Ava stories for me. That ghoul rocks.

What does Andrew McFerrin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's a very strong narrator, delivers the story well, and makes the sequence of events believable. Any story could be ruined by poor narration; it takes a great actor to add to a story (not that I believe TW's works need any extra oomph. They're amazing on their own, in black and white on the printed page, no flourish).

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This review is a long time coming and I've several more reviews to write for the Ava series; Bad me, but life's been busy.

Let me just say that the story combined with the narrator delivery makes it VERY hard to stop listening and get on with daily life. At times, I wished I was back working nights in a lab so I could listen for 8 hours straight while working.

Ava is both likeable and grating; her personality is super realistic and reminds me of my best college gal pal. That's not to say she won't appeal to the male listener; I think she certainly will. The way she addresses counterpart characters is very strong-willed and sometimes overly confrontational, but that goes along with her stubborn and snarky personality.

I've honestly never read or listened to a story quite like this one and I was ready to dive in to more as soon as I finished this installment. I mean, how can you go wrong with zombie queens & donuts, both glazed in paranormal chic-lit written by a dude? It could have been a terrible combo, actually. A guy writing a girl- in 1st person no less! BUT, TW does it beautifully. I'd happily give the man my bra and PMS meds since he just seems to 'get' us gals.

Anyways- read the Ava books. You'll find that they're nothing like anything else you've ever read. And don't get too mad when they end; I've a feeling TW will keep writing them, each one with an ending that makes you crave the next.

What did you like best about this story?

Everything!

Which scene was your favorite?

Hmm. That's hard to pinpoint- I was a huge fan of the first meeting with the Zombie Queen, a lot of dynamics there.

If you could rename That Ghoul Ava and The Queen of the Zombies, what would you call it?

I wouldn't rename it. The way TW titles reminds me of the Archie comics for some reason. Haha.
