On the cusp of turning 21, she has her whole life waiting out ahead of her. Sexy AF while still radiating an innocence that I know better than to taint. And here I am, itching to reach out and touch a girl who is so forbidden that just thinking about her feels like committing a mortal sin. Thing is, I love playing with fire.

A. L Jackson's newest fan...
Revisado: 03-09-21
I found this author by accident when I became an audible premium member and got a few free listens in the selections. I was hooked! I adore the way she writes...descriptive, compelling, and always, always spotlighting the strong, masculine, dominant male paired with the insightful, courageous and caring female. Pair all of that with a story that makes the reader feel.
I felt every emotion in this series...yeah, yeah, I know, this is a stand alone novel, and it is...but it's also the completion of the Sunder and Carolina George band's journey to find love, acceptance, and family.
The story of Reece and Maddie capped things off beautifully. How do you keep from falling in love with your band mate's sister? How do you keep that secret along with the myriad of others from your past? How do you guage your response to the girl you love when you know she's been violated, damaged beyond repair, yet she pulls you into her orbit with just a look? Only this author can weave a web like this and lead the reader through it, leaving you with a feel good moment and a gapping hole because the story/series has come to an end.
If you love raw, real emotion in your reading/listening (did I mention Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber are the best narrators around) this is the author for you. And to Ms. Jackson, thank you for the free listen you were willing to provide. Your risk got you a new fan! I've bought and listened to at least 10 of your books! It's a win win for both of us!
Bravo...

Rachel Hayward hoped to have a quiet thirtieth birthday alone. Instead, fate had different plans. Caught in traffic and late for work, she can do nothing except wait for the freeway gridlock to ease. A three-car pileup has caused the snarl. Just as cars begin to move at a faster clip, Rachel takes her eyes off the road to gawk at the accident and rear-ends the car in front of her.

Stays with you long after you finish the book...
Revisado: 03-18-14
Where does Conflicting Hearts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best books I've had the privilege to read. I highly recommend this book to any and all listeners. Some scenes may have a triggering effect, so readers beware. But, it's written tastefully, and the narration is wonderful.
What did you like best about this story?
The rawness and honesty from where the story is told. It's a true eye-opener.
Which character – as performed by Andi Arndt – was your favorite?
Rachel and I are polar opposites in relation to coping with our past abuse. We are both wired wrong, and struggling to find normal.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I listened to the audio version of this fantastic novel, as that's the format I prefer when I'm busy. I figured I would listen a little each day during some free moments. That didn't happen! I couldn't put it down and listened to the entire book in one day!
A fender-bender on the road, brings Rachel (an administrative assistant) and Ian (a promininant attorney) together by accident. Ian persues a relationship with the very reluctant Rachel, and finally succeeds in winning her trust. But when they attempt to consummate their relationship, he finds that loving her may not be enough to overcome her dark and haunting secrets. Yes...she is broken, but not ruined. The ensuing struggle to make this relationship work, not only awakened memories and nightmares from my own past, but it also touched my soul.
I never expected such a poignant and indepth journey into the mind and soul of a sexual abuse victim. This author captures the essence and nuances of a taboo subject, yet weaves them into a beautiful, gripping story of love, hope, pain, and rebirth, that stays with you long after you've finished the book. I had to ponder and digest my overwhelming and raw feelings for a few days, before I could write this review. The author brings to the forefront, a view of the damage left behind by a child abuser; the struggle to overcome, and the fight to be normal...whatever that is. It's also a peek into the dark programming such abuse does to a child's mind; a program that unfortunately, cannot ever be deleted.
The scenes and situations concerning the abuse are not described in graphic detail; they are written tastefully, placed appropriately, and with blatant honesty. However, they may have a triggering effect on some readers. Overall, the scene descriptions, the likeable and believeable characters, and the message of hope and healing are beautifully depicted. The author's grasp of the suffering, shame, and secrecy is spot on!
I loved the narrator, Andi Arndt. Her performance made the emotion in each scene jump out and grab me! Bravo...Andi!!
I highly recommend this beautifully written, believable, and powerful love story. It will open your eyes and touch your heart!
BRAVO JD Burrows...I'm forever a fan! Well done!

Not what it was cracked up to be....
Revisado: 05-01-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Book was very youth oriented....writing very simplified....good read for pre-teen or teen.
What could Suzanne Collins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Story is close to Logan's Run....read it because of the buzz....not my kind of book.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Very monotone....got better toward the end.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Hunger Games?
The endless trek through the forest.
Any additional comments?
Good read for under 20 age group.

Narrorator only saving grace for me
Revisado: 05-01-12
Would you try another book from Nicholas Sparks and/or Sean Pratt?
Sean Pratt....yes. Sparks....no. I have read many many books by N.Sparks, and have enjoyed most of them....this one went too far. I read to escape the angst in my own life...to enter the form of another on the page and go places, see things, feel what they feel.
I was devastated by the end of this book....screaming....No!!!!!!!!!! I vowed when the last word was uttered....I will never read another N.Sparks book again.
Mr. Sparks......TRY HAPPY!!!!!!! THE WORLD IS SAD ENOUGH.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Back to Sandra Brown....she gets it.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the main characters got together.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Best of Me?
The ending.
Any additional comments?
Happy.....Mr. Sparks.....end them Happy.

Ward is back with a vengence!!!!!
Revisado: 05-01-12
Would you listen to Lover Reborn again? Why?
Absolutely....I already have. Jim Frangione is the soul and voice of the brotherhood. This novel, captures the essence of pain, sorrow, and despair of lost love, while weaving a vine of hope, compassion and healing through to the thrilling end. Ward does all this without losing the testosterone kick that the BDB series is known for.
What other book might you compare Lover Reborn to and why?
That's what is so unique....no other book or series like it to my knowledge....it stands alone.
Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Classic.....Frangione....he makes the books jump out at you....Book 3 and Book4 were not on audio format when I first started the series....I had to read them....I could hear his voice in my head through each book
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both....Ms. Ward is a master with emotion....an artful storyteller.....the best in her genre.
Any additional comments?
Keep them coming Ms. Ward....thousands of us will never tire....I'll read and reread these until I'm 90....You are phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!

New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

I "Envy" Ms. Browns Superb Writing....A must read
Revisado: 05-04-11
What a mastery of love, lies, deception and mystique....this is one of the best books of Sandra Brown's I have read.....actually one of the best mystery/romance novels I have read in a long time. This story is actually a book within a book and Ms. Brown has the talent to encompass 2 different and yet intricately involved stories into to 1 book. The story is of 2 rival authors that start out their careers as best friends....yet greed, jealousy, ambition and envy draw both to use the same beautiful woman to their own ends....at her expense.....fantastic read with twists and turns and a few surprises.....great love scenes that touch your heart as well as the nether-parts.
