This book beautifully covered procrastination and the feelings of stress and self-worth that you feel as a result of it. It described problems that I had but was unable to quite pinpoint, gave me perfectly clear origins of those issues and provided me with reasonable and easy solutions to getting things done now, and feel great about it.

I highly recommend this book.

Great Advice, But It's All Old News

If your not already familiar with old concepts like, The Lean Startup, Agile Product, Development and User Testing, then this is going to be a great book for you.

But for many of us this book will provide No new information. It's a standard week long sprint ending in some user testing of your prototype, the same stuff that's been preached from the mountain tops for the last 5 years. The authors provide a lot of detail around how to run the sprints, which is nice, but for the most part I was anxious to wrap this book up and move on to something new.

To be clear, if you are Not super familiar with the concepts I mentioned above, then I would Highly recommend this book. The content is absolutely true and this book is a good, albeit basic, summary of the principles needed for rapid, low-cost product development.

Great book. the main lesson of course is to use a checklist, even for mundane tasks. But the value of this book is WHY a checklist works, WHAT makes a checklist good or bad, and ultimately to share the research that proves how surprisingly effective a checklist really is.

Literally Useless | No Way 5 Star Reviews are real

What disappointed you about Scaling Up?

This book is literally Useless. It has no meat. No real advice. It's filled with a string of unconnected thoughts, thin metaphors and anecdotal stories that barely scratch the surface of any real business issue. It's filled with useless phrases like "the first rule of money management is don't run out of money" and then it moves on to a completely separate thought like "business is like climbing everest...". It feels like it was written by a high school student. It's SOOO Bad.

What could Verne Harnish have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I wish he had done some first hand research, and/or had some first hand experience in business. It sounds like he's just regurgitating things he's heard from amateur entrepreneurs.

What aspect of Spencer Cannon’s performance would you have changed?

Performance was fine, content was mind-numbingly awful

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The first 3 chapters were literally Useless. The rest of the book was maybe 90% useless (if I'm totally honest)

Any additional comments?

Normally the reviews you find on audible are fairly reliable, but there is literally no possible way that the 5 Star Reviews on this book are real. They have to be faked becuase this book is seriously useless. The only way those 5 Star Reviews could be real is if they all came from people who have zero actual experience running a business and instead they thrive on pep-talks and spend their days dreaming about "one day I'll start a business..." but if you want real help scaling up a business, stay away from this book, you'll find nothing useful here.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Great Book. It was short, which is deceptive, because it was chaulk full of really really useful stuff. I felt like, in 1 hour I got all of the tips and tricks the author had learned through his years of experience. This book was filled with things that would have otherwise taken me a lot of trial and error to figure out on my own. It was DEFINITELY worth the purchase.

What did you love best about Freaking Idiots Guide Two-Book Bundle?

I was hesitant to spend my Audible credits on any of Nick Vulich's short books (Longer books = more value, right?) But the fact that he bundled these two books together was enough to make me try it out. I was very surprised. It was extremely helpful. I'm brand new to Ebay selling, and these were the perfect intro, or starter books to help me understand what I was getting into. He does spend some time getting readers to believe they can actually make money on ebay, and doesn't really talk about where to professionally source new retail products (he instead focuses on selling old things from around the house mostly). But the rest of the book was very helpful to understanding how to list products in order to maximize sales and increase bids through better search visibility, Which was what I needed.

Have you listened to any of Chuck McKibben’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The Narrator was really good and didn't have any annoying habits that I tend to notice in other speakers.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

People search for the same product in a million different ways, Take advantage of describing all the ways that a product can be used, and essentially use as many Keywords in the title and description as possible.

Any additional comments?

Definitely Worth the Audible credit even though it's a short read.
