Historia
Auckland Island is a godforsaken place in the middle of the Southern Ocean, 285 miles south of New Zealand. With year-round freezing rain and howling winds, it is one of the most forbidding places in the world. To be shipwrecked there means almost certain death. In 1864, Captain Thomas Musgrave and his crew of four aboard the schooner Grafton wreck on the southern end of the island. Utterly alone in a dense coastal forest, plagued by stinging blowflies and relentless rain, Captain Musgrave inspires his men to take action.

Revisado: 07-17-20
Well written and well read, this story of two shipwrecks, (Grafton and Invercauld), offers a detailed narrative of the crews plight and their remarkable self-rescue. True stories such as this should not be lost to history.

Not bad
Revisado: 04-02-20
Loved the first book, second book was pretty good, (ending left several issues unresolved). But some of the decisions made by the main protagonist in this book undermined the character developed in the first two books, **Spoiler Alert** especially serving in a press-gang.
Rodksa's performance could not be improved upon, he is the perfect narrator for this book, 5 stars!

Historia
While on a sailing trip in the Baltic Sea, two young adventurers-turned-spies uncover a secret German plot to invade England. Widely recognized as the first modern spy thriller, this 1902 lone masterpiece by World War I Royal Navy officer Erskine Childers was written as a wake-up call to the British government to attend to its North Sea defenses. It accomplished that task and has been considered a classic of espionage literature ever since.

A very interesting, well written and well-read book. The attention to detail was at the forefront of this genre of literature. Some of the elements of this book proved to foreshadow future military events.
