Historia
Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

Some folks are lying their butts off in this review section
Revisado: 05-01-25
Either that or they don't read much. The narration was spot on, yes great job. But the actual story was straight down hill from the first book. I was so impressed by the FMC in book 1, the author ruined her personality in this book. It was over all super predictable and a drag to get through. Will not be continuing further with this series.

Fantastic narration, but problem better in physical format
Revisado: 03-10-25
The narrator is fantastic and the story very intriguing. However, it is high fantasy- alot of world building and alot of characters. It was alot to keep up with. Personally, I think this book is probably better in physical form so you can flip back to precious chapters to remind yourself who's who and what's what.

Historia
Once upon a time, there was a king who passed. He left behind two sons, one beloved and one outcast. The older of the two was set to take the throne, but before he could, he had to find a queen to call his own. The younger one was known to be unruly and unhinged. The chosen queen was warned to keep far away from him. Beautiful and cunning, in the light is where she stayed. But late at night, it was the shadowed lands in which she played. Mistakes were made and secrets forged; forgetting duty and her sense. And while the new king had her hand, her heart belonged to the scarred prince.

Wrong narrators for this story
Revisado: 03-10-25
Emily McIntyre is the queen of dark romance. However, they def chose the wrong narrators for this story. The male narrator sounds 60 and the female 16. Neither are a fit at all for the content of this story, especially paired together.

the first book I've ever DNF'ed
Revisado: 02-12-25
These characters are so unrelatable, the plot completely predictable, and the FMC is the stereotypical petulant & annoying. This is the first book I've ever quit. (no fault of the narrators, complete fault of the plot)

Historia
Trauma nurse Aly Cappellucci doesn’t need any more kinks. She likes the one she’s landed on just fine. To her, nothing could top the masked men she follows online. Unless one of those men was shirtless, heavily tattooed, and waiting for her in her bedroom. She dreams about being hunted by one in particular, of him chasing her down and doing deliciously dark things to her willing body. She never could have guessed that by sending one drunken text, those dreams would become her new reality.

Started strong, then failed hard
Revisado: 01-07-25
This book started off so good, I was hooked. & The narration on audible is phenomenal. Then about 70% through, a significant incident happens (without spoiling anything) and the FMC turns so petulant and annoying. It's a turning point in the worst way. She seriously becomes so childish/needy I almost DNF'd the rest of the book. Had I not paid for it, I would have. It was SUCH a struggle to get through the rest of the book with the change in her personality.

In the beginning, there was darkness. Before he met Callie, before he became the Bargainer, there was Desmond Flynn, the bastard son of a scribe. A boy born to a weak mother, cursed with little magic, and destined to marry a slave. But fate had something else in mind. From the barren caves of Arestys to the palace of Somnia to the streets of earth, this is how Desmond Flynn, a fairy who began with nothing, became the Emperor of Evening Stars.

The reason I'm DNFing
Revisado: 12-12-24
Book one was so great and should have been a standalone. book 2 was a drag and this one was worse. Maybe it was the narrators voice but this was so very boring. After this snooze fest won't be continuing with the next book, this was a let down.

Great narration, mediocre story
Revisado: 12-06-24
Narration was great but the story line really started to grate my nerves the longer it went on. All of the minor characters are first class annoying. (the FMC's mother, friend, the detectives) & Maybe I'm too morally gray, but the girls friend was insufferable and I in no way felt sorry for what ended up happening to her nor did I understand why the FMC didn't put her in her place from the beginning.

Good narration, poor story
Revisado: 10-26-24
Griffins possessiveness and overbearing is way too much in this one. It goes beyond protecting and down right controlling. It frankly gets very annoying and detracts greatly from the overall story. Kat is a strong female main character, is very contradictory for her to be with a man that treats her like a child.

it's a no for me
Revisado: 08-06-24
the narrator is so bloody boring. the monotone voice sounds like a bad national geographic documentary. this book was also written from the perspective of a horny teenage boy. I'm all for spice, but this has no plot other than Hades thinking about you know what every other page. if you read the first book from Persephone's perspective, don't waste your time on this. there's nothing new added to the story. if you haven't read A touch of Darkness, read that instead of this.
