Overrated

This had been on my reading list for a while and I find it disappointing on so many levels. I would not recommend this book.

Historia
Duff Gibson has spent the better part of three decades in a hotbed of Olympic sport. Despite its mischaracterization in popular culture, the mental side of sport is perhaps the most significant aspect, and what very often makes the difference between success and failure, in particular at the highest level. The Tao of Sport explores the commonality amongst elite performers relating to purpose, passion, and growth, as a means to achieving high performance, or as a means to an end in itself.

Amazing Book, A Must Read
Revisado: 02-11-22
I was fortunate enough to read this book at a time in my life where I needed clarity in certain things for business. I picked this book up on the recommendation of a friend and it's outstanding. Clearly written, well researched and the author uses a lot of personal references from the highest levels of sport that really translates well into overall lessons that transcend sport. I particularly got a lot out of the section on growth mindset than includes research from famed psychologist Carol Dweck. Super applicable and helpful for me in business and life. I highly recommend this book!

Historia
Thirty five concerts. Seventeen thousand motorcycle miles. Three months. One lifetime. In May 2015 the veteran Canadian rock trio Rush embarked on their 40th anniversary tour, R40. For the band and their fans, R40 was a celebration and, perhaps, a farewell. But for Neil Peart, each tour is more than just a string of concerts; it's an opportunity to explore backroads near and far on his BMW motorcycle. So if this was to be the last tour and the last great adventure, he decided it would have to be the best one, onstage and off.

Historia
What does it mean to be a man in the modern world? Throughout history, being a man has meant different things. Maybe being a man was about being a good hunter, or a good soldier, a good businessman, or maybe good with women. Hard Times Create Strong Men examines what it means to be a man in the modern world relative to money, sex, religion, and politics. This audiobook examines what worked and what doesn’t work based on proven history instead of feelings.

Trash
Revisado: 09-30-20
I have no idea why so many others liked this book. He maybe has 20 pages worth of original ideas (that aren't that good to begin with) added to endless quotes from literally everywhere. This guy seems like an angry boy who was burnt once by a girl and then wrote a book (quickly) on the subject. Save your money...this is total trash.

Historia
With a bike, a turbo trainer, and the right advice, you can beat anyone. No one but Graeme Obree has the clarity of vision to get to the heart of the "problem" of how to improve as a racing cyclist. His innovative approach took him to the top of world cycling, twice breaking the world hour record - a story picked up in his Hollywood biopic The Flying Scotsman. It can draw the same outstanding athletic performance from you.

Interesting book, just not a good audiobook
Revisado: 07-06-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
It was a good book, just short of details and lacking a link to a pdf file or video on the techniques outlined. He mentions a pedaling technique and breathing technique but having a short video we could watch would answer all the questions I have. Similarly the author does not offer suggestions on turbo trainers he might recommend you buy. Overall it's just lacking information that would have been easy to include with a pdf link or several videos.
