Deep in the muddy fields of the Lincolnshire Fens, a teenage girl is found wandering, delirious, claiming to have been drugged at a party. Metres away, the drowned body of another girl is found on an isolated beach. And all this on a small stretch of land where, nearly 10 years ago, the shocking disappearance of a young girl remains an open case.

Incredible Story and Narration
Revisado: 06-23-23
The story was engrossing and surprising even on a second listen. But the narration is one of the best parts. Richard Armitage became one of my favorite narrators after listening to this book. The number of different voices and affects he is able to produce is impressive and quite engaging.

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

I love Molly Shannon so this book was a wonderful look into not only the celebrity aspect of her life, but also the personal experiences that shaped her. This was a very entertaining listen, but also had a great deal of heart and warmth.

Thought provoking

I listen to Aubrey Gordon’s podcast, Maintenance Phase, and always enjoy it. This book was very insightful and created many opportunities for the reader to challenge their own biases and beliefs. I also like that several other works were referenced for further reading.

Great listen, well read
Revisado: 01-15-22
This book was fascinating and kept me interested until the end. The real events it’s based on and the fictional story created to highlight them are woven together beautifully. The narrator does an incredible job of voicing the different characters and conveying the emotion of the story.
