Historia
In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

All over the place
Revisado: 05-03-24
Kind of difficult to follow what the overall theme is. Each chapter was its own session so to speak and they were all over the place. The last one about spirituality seemed out of place. I took away a few good things but overall it was disappointing.

Author Narrators are Always a Mistake
Revisado: 01-03-22
This author even goes so far as to tell you how much he is going to be terrible at narrating in a special audiobook preface. He constantly makes strange grunting noises in addition to weird laughs every 10 seconds that drove me crazy! The content is worthwhile but completely ruined by the author deciding that he just had to be the narrator.

Historia
One of our greatest philosophers and scientists of the mind asks where the self comes from - and how our selves can exist in the minds of others. I Am a Strange Loop argues that the key to understanding selves and consciousness is the "strange loop" - a special kind of abstract feedback loop inhabiting our brains. The most central and complex symbol in your brain is the one called "I". The "I" is the nexus in our brain, one of many symbols seeming to have free will and to have gained the paradoxical ability to push particles around, rather than the reverse.

Militant Vegan Who Loves Endless Run-On Sentences
Revisado: 12-22-21
When I first started listening I thought there had been some mistake. The guy goes on and on about how terrible it is to eat meat and how big is a animal’s soul blah blah blah. I kept going anyway. The book just got worse and worse. The run-on sentences with lists of things he’s using to make a point are the worst. How did this guy write Godel, Escher, Bach??

Historia
A.D. 255. The Roman imperium is stretched to the breaking point, its authority and might challenged throughout the territories and along every border. One man is sent to marshal the defenses of a lonely city and to shore up the crumbling walls of a once indomitable symbol of Roman power, a man whose very name means war: a man called Ballista. So unfolds an epic drama - a story of empire, heroes, treachery, courage, and most of all, of brutal, bloody warfare.

Historia
Most of us have had this experience: browsing through countless options on Netflix, unable to commit to watching any given movie—and losing so much time skimming reviews and considering trailers that it’s too late to watch anything at all. In a book inspired by an idea first articulated in a viral commencement address, Pete Davis argues that this is the defining characteristic of the moment: keeping our options open. In Dedicated, Davis examines this quagmire, as well as the counterculture of committers who have made it to the other side.

Get a narrator!
Revisado: 10-22-21
The content is thought provoking. It’s almost impossible to listen to though because the author is the narrator and it sounds like he’s going through puberty. Additionally, he can not seem to pronounce words properly and I have had to rewind several times just to understand what he was saying. I felt like I was listening to some high school kids bs’ing with each other.

Good Until He Got All Political
Revisado: 07-10-21
Why do people do this? They write an awesome book, or story or movie and then they feel they have to throw in politics. Just stop. Stick to the subject of the book.
