I'm a birth educator and prenatal care provider, and I've had so many clients privately ask me many of the questions in this book - questions about how stress actually impacts the baby, the low down on all the leaking fluids from everywhere, why pregnancy dreams so crazy, what to do if they aren't comfortable with their midwife or OB, all the potential issues with relationships and sex during all the phases, moving through the fear of birth and motherhood, all the weird stuff newborns do that freak us out, and really delicate situations like being sad about the birth experience and dealing with all the insensitive things people can say. Bailey goes deep into the heart of so many nuanced aspects of this experience and offers so many ah-ha moments.

She uses a great mix of birth and postpartum research, many years of professional experience as a childbirth educator and doula, and personal stories from her hospital and home births. And the appendix is amazing (something I've never written before!) - it includes spot-on tips for quality self-care, relaxation in particular, simple definitions of terms women will hear but might not know what they mean, and other resources specific to different types of support women might need. I've been so excited for this book to come out on audio and I tell all my clients that are too busy to read to skip all the noise of chat groups and social media and just listen to this book.
