Historia
Twenty-four aircrew who flew the iconic aircraft with the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Air Force, and the South African Air Force (SAAF) relate their experiences and affection for the Blackburn Buccaneer. Arranged in chronological order, the book traces the history of the aircraft and the tasks it fulfilled. In addition to describing events and activities, it provides an insight into the lifestyle of a Buccaneer squadron and the fun and enjoyment of being a "Buccaneer Boy" in addition to being part of a highly professional and dedicated force.

A Good Story but.......
Revisado: 06-04-18
I have just got to the end of this eminently readable book and whilst the story is excellent and the narration keeps one interested one thing right near the end really wound me up, as in clockwork.....there is a chapter where one of the Squadron Commanders mentions the queens 75th birthday flypast and how he valiantly led the whole formation from the front seat of his trusty Buccaneer. He then goes on to extol the virtues of the designer, the builder and, above all the aircrew of said Buccaneers. As a graduate of RAF Halton, the Number 1 School of RAF Engineering Training it is endlessly difficult to listen to these clowns who seem to think that all RAF aircraft just fix themselves or, better yet, never break and are just sat waiting for entitled people such as himself to jump into the front seat and sally forth into the wild blue yonder. Graham Pitchfork has done an excellent job pulling together these tales but he seems to have forgotten that the engineers were also Buccaneer Boys and, in some instances worked a lot harder than the seat to stick interface ever did. In another volume, the Lightning Boys, there is a chapter by the SENGO of a Squadron from Binbrooke, not so in this book and it is all the worse because of it.

Historia
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

Dreary unbelievable claptrap.
Revisado: 11-23-17
I travel a lot and enjoy listening to my audio book collection but I have to draw the line with this awful offering. No plausibility and read in an awful high monotone, I have no words for how bad this book is. More fool me for wasting my money on it. Can I please have a refund?

In 1558 the ancient stones of Kingsbridge Cathedral look down on a city torn apart by religious conflict. As power in England shifts precariously between Catholics and Protestants, high principles clash bloodily with friendship, loyalty, and love. Ned Willard wants nothing more than to marry Margery Fitzgerald. But when the lovers find themselves on opposing sides of the religious divide sweeping across the country, Ned goes to work for Princess Elizabeth. When she becomes queen, all Europe turns against England.

WONDERFUL--As Good as Pillars of the Earth!

Same tired formula
Revisado: 09-26-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This book would appeal to anyone who has not read any of Folletts previous medieval offerings
Has A Column of Fire turned you off from other books in this genre?
Not the genre but certainly the author
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was fine. It is the story that didn't match up.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None whatsoever. A cardboard cut out of his previous books in this series.
Any additional comments?
After about 10 minutes I knew that someone was returning to Kingsbridge to find his love was going to be thwarted by a comedically bad family and that the love of his life would have to marry someone else.. Such trite rewriting of his old work, he should be ashamed to foist this upon the public. When I think of how much I enjoyed The Pillars of the Earth I now feel like Follett has somehow stolen my wallet. A real shame! Is it possible to return a book and get ones money back?

Awful, Northern Accents
Revisado: 03-06-17
What did you like best about Crime on the Fens? What did you like least?
This is a nice easy going story which introduces the characters well. However, the awful, awful Lancashire/Mancunian accent used by the narrator grated every time I turned it on. Does she even know where the fens are?
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It is a good story with a nice plotline, just spoilt by....
How could the performance have been better?
Research......Manchester is not in Cambridgeshire, neither should its accent be.
Did Crime on the Fens inspire you to do anything?
Unfortunately, because of the narration I shall not be buying any more of this series

But Harry is already on notice to quit the force and is left with little alternative but to drag himself out of his alcoholic stupor and get to work. A wave of similar murders is on the horizon....
