Historia
Humanity once ruled space, building an empire that stretched across hundreds of stars. Now, Earth is a cold cinder in the void, its colonies and ships annihilated in an instant. The surviving races have huddled in the dying light of those few stations for five thousand years. They've avoided total destruction to eke out their existence in the shadow of the long-dead humans who built their homes. When a piece of that lost legacy resurfaces, the few who still remember humanity have one last opportunity to find the truth and avenge the fallen.

Well constructed sci-fi with an excellent narrator
Revisado: 04-01-23
The pacing is excellent; just the right amount of world building to draw you in without slowing down the plot. The characters are well written and even more well acted. I especially liked the way that the in-universe tech was explained and the “rules” of how things worked were established. In short: I enjoyed this story immensely and wouldn’t hesitate to listen to another by this author.

Historia
Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Slow to build, but hard to put down
Revisado: 05-11-20
The story is wonderful. It takes some time to get off the ground simply due to the depth of the world building but is at no point boring. Once the narrative picks up speed it is a juggernaut of political intrigue, religious fervor, tight combat, and schemes within schemes within schemes. I ended up listening to the last few chapters all in one sitting because I simply couldn't put it down.
As others have said, the narration was odd in parts but overall I think it did the book justice. The occasional awkward stumble as other narrators are brought in for a few paragraphs and then not heard again for several chapters are more than outweighed by the superb performance of the main orator. Additional sound effects are used sparingly and appropriately.

Historia
In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platform that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate. In the same year, a simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event. At almost the same moment in humanity's broad history, mankind had discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall - and the ability to forget it ever happened.

Continuation of a great series
Revisado: 02-28-19
Overall I throughly enjoyed it. Learning the secrets of the silo program was exhilarating. I could have done with less time spent on Silo 17/Old Georgia but it was still a good listen. Only a handful of minor audio errors throughout; nothing ever really distracting.
