This is such a great story grounded in some sad realities about growing up in poverty in middle America was a bit of a murder mystery along the way. The characters are incredibly likable and the reader brought it to life.

Unique fantasy brings mystery

A unique take on fantasy as a genre. There’s magic, but not as you typically see it, there’s fantastic creatures and people, but not ones that you are used to seeing. And it’s all packaged in a murder mystery unraveled by unlikely allies. Because it’s unique it took me a little longer to get a handle on the setting and plot, but once I got far enough in I was hooked.

There was not a single moment of this recording that wasn’t entirely enjoyable. It is as much about Bob as the guests he brings in. There is an insight and perspective that is very fun.

Best book I've read in at least a year

Seriously. Funny, deep, history, and personal. There is nothing about this book that I didn't love. If it has any fault it's that I want to know more. It needs another half about Noah's rise to fame up to his start at the Daily Show.

Dwarves stuck in their holds besieged by orcs who are manipulated by drow the heroes play decisive roles in the future of the region. This may seem familiar if you've read previous books, which is both its boon and bane.

A John Green Classic

What other book might you compare An Abundance of Katherines to and why?

Pretty much any John Green novel. They follow a formula, albeit an enjoyable one. Coming of age teens, going on a wacky adventure, often in the name of love, learn their lesson and return home/move on to starting their adulthood.

Good story that doesn't go where I expected

What did you like best about this story?

It is a great cross section of my favorite setting and furthers the story of the Sundering in very meaningful ways.

Any additional comments?

There were some opportunities for better character development, but all in all a decent story. Probably even better on my second listen.

Upfront, honest, and decently accurate

What made the experience of listening to I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had the most enjoyable?

I found that the author was upfront about his biases and the fact that his experience was not typical, but in fact his teaching was much easier than most. This level of honesty gave the story an air of truth that I appreciated.

What did you like best about this story?

An honest depiction of one persons experience teaching one hard class without trying to argue that this experience was typical of anything.
