The original story to the series of Roland and his band of rag tag gunlsingers. Mr. King does a unbelievable job of telling the Gunslinger story backwards, bit by bit through Rolands memories and his childhood. He weaves past and present in an effortless read, leaving the listener on the edge of his or her seat at almost every turn. This book is a must read to begin you on your own special journey toward the dark tower of your own lives. In Steven Kings own words, The story has perhaps one of the greatest opening lines ever written: "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed"
The simplicity of this classic opening raises more than enough questions to push the reader on page by page wishing for more information about the stranger Roland who seems drawn by destiny to do his part in the grander shceme of thing, and his nemesis, the Man in black. The book is also a stark and vivid reminder of how even very small things in our own lives can have resounding effects on our worlds.
