Great start

This book reminded me of Dresden series for the main plot(mystery) and Wizard of the Glove for the relationship between the main character and Death.

Usually the mystery plots in this kind of UF's tend to be wishy-washy and weak, but this book kept me guessing the most of the time and made the reading fast and enjoyable. Although the author gives a satisfying ending for this book, there are more threads to be explore in this world. I am looking forward to reading more!

Fun adventure

This is a combined story of a coming of age and a military(marine to be exact) scifi. Because I started to reread Honorverse, I wanted to try the other stories Weber wrote. I'm glad I picked this book up. It's a non-stop action packed adventure story of a wild planet by a group of elite marines protecting a spoiled prince. By the end of the book the prince becomes less annoying and shows surprising( a bit too easy) amount of depth and strength as well as a promise as a future leader. Only thing that bothered me was the amount of blood and carnage that seem to be necessary with these kind of military novels. If one can get through those scenes, it's a very entertaining book.

Urban fantasy style wedding plans

Since I know the most of the authors in this book, I was able to enjoy it. Not a great collection like the other anthology but still a fun listen. I have to say the Harry Dresden short story was the best but the others had its charms, too.

Wonderful fantasy

Loved the premise of the story and the characters of this book, very unique and interesting. I really loved that Maine was chosen to be the land where the story happens. Since I lived there I could imagine the coast lines and the people... Even though it has a great ending, it still feels undone in the sense I would like to read more about this world.

Great coming of age book

You would think from the title and the premise, the story will be all Zombie attacks and fights all the way. It’s not. If you are not fan of the walking dead, please to not be deterred by the title. It’s a wonderful coming of age story with a zombie-infested apocalypstic-world twist. I eagerly await the sequel!

Happy romance

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-31-11

I read Susan Elizabeth Phillips Chicago Stars series a while ago in Japanese and got hooked. Since then I've devoured most of her books. I still think her Chicago Stars series books are one of the most funny, heart-warming, character driven contemporary romance. I read mostly regency romances but Nora Roberts, SEP and Suzanne Brockmann are exception.

As with her other books (unfortunately not the recent ones) this book has wonderful witty dialogue, charming and funny characters that will take you away from your daily woes... While reading this book I can pretend I'm with the handsome and buff as well as smart and funny Chicago Stars' gorgeous menfolk!

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read "happy romances!"

Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13 Audiolibro Por Jim Butcher arte de portada

Harry is Harry dead or alive

Update
Finished listening to Ghost Story's read by John Glover. I have to say it wasn't bad at all. Different but not bad. Since he is an excellent actor he does the various voices of the other characters really well and that added to the story. I think if JM version is released later, being a fanI would buy that version, too. But still I think this version was nice on its own.

As for the story, WOW. Jim Butcher does it again. and It totally blew my mind and exceeded my expectations. Yeah he's dead but he still is Harry Harry does what Harry does best, fight for the people he loves. I especially loved the part about Harry's past and we get to know more about him.

I was sad that there was almost no Thomas in this book, though I hope to see more of him in the next book. The cliff hanger was somewhat expected but still exciting and made me crave for the next book!

All in all a wonderful addition to the series and just like Harry, this series keeps on going good!

My original review (I was in a panic as you can see)
OMG Just found out that James Marsters would not be reading this book!!

NOOOOO. I buy the audiobook along the actual book because he is reading it...Well at least the substitute is Mr. John Glover, an excellent actor known as Lex's dad. Just really really disappointed.

Just great fun

I am going through this series really quickly. It is just that fun and easy to read.
In this volume our druid is going to have that fight we were all waiting for. I just saw Thor in the theaters so it felt weird reading about ice giants, Thor, Odin and Asgaard.

From the beginning he is warned by the friendly deities including Jesus warn him of going to Asgard to kill Thor. It's Leif's revenge but he wants to keep his word.

As with the previous novels Atticus wrecks havoc all over. Some places it made me wince but overall it was enjoyable. We finally get to find out just WHY Thor is so hated everywhere.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the author's continuous pop culture references in the book. If you are not familiar with them, you might get lost. I especially enjoyed, being a trekkie, the part about having Spock angel and Kirk devil on Atticus' shoulder giving advice!! Since I listened to the audio book version, the narrator does his best to create the distinct characteristic of them and it was fun to listen to!

Just can't wait to read more to see what happens to Atticus and Co.

Looking for more in the 3rd book

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-31-11

After a very good start in the first book Grave Witch I was expecting a lot. I have to say it did not quite measure up do that. That is not to say this is a boring book. It's not.
It was just not as fun as the first book.

Feet with missing bodies as well as ghosts, the plethora of interesting fay characters and politics should make this book more exciting and fun, however I found they muddy the story progress and made me loose focus. I also don't like the heroes(men in Alex's life) and that also distracts me. Haven't we have too much of "I am a special woman with mysterious/unique/strong powers and all the gorgeous men/fay/vampire/were love me" At least we have death as in grim leaper in the mix, which I haven't read in a while since Wizard in the Grove series

Anyway, I hope the story picks up more in the 3rd book!
