Historia
Imagine a nightmare in which your darkest fears are coming true. Your life seems to spiral further towards hell with each passing day, yet you can't wake up. You're constantly dominated by unthinkable circumstances as everything you hold dear is in danger of being torn from your grip, and the lines are blurred between the natural and the paranormal. You're entrenched in a spiritual battle against ancient curses, and the satanism and witchcraft practiced by those around you. Nightmare in Holmes County takes you on one man's journey through hell on earth, in the heart of Amish country.

I Believe
Revisado: 12-11-23
I totally believe this story and that we have to be vigilant against evil. I have had my own experiences. At first it is hard to understand but you soon realize it is real and you have to fight. More books like this need to be written. Gods blessings to the author and I hope this book falls in the hand of those who need it.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

A superb window into the lives of the Great Ignored.
Revisado: 11-30-20
I originally found out about this book via the ads on Netflix for their dramatization of it, and being an immigrant to the US and a resident of Appalachia, I was immediately intrigued, and decided to listen to the book prior to watching the movie - and I’m glad that I did. This book is heartfelt, insightful, and doesn’t just describe the agony and struggle of the lives of America’s least-favourite children: Whites living below the poverty line, it gives us options to look into to repair generational poverty and the systemic issues which generationally oppress people of all racial backgrounds. I have only been in the US for less than 10 years, but within my first 3 years living here I was brought face to face with the system which claims to protect and care for children, and I was horrified by what I witnessed and how cruelly white Appalachians were then and are still treated by the system, simply for being uneducated and poor. While it is very chic to virtue signal about the (truly genuine) plight of poor Blacks in America, being able to access the issues facing poor Whites is every bit as important. Americans need to do better by their most vulnerable, and not allot their energy based on which minority is Flavour Of The Month. I hope this is the first of many books from Mr. Vance!
