Walden Audiolibro Por Henry David Thoreau arte de portada

I wish it was read in the voice of a poet rather than the voice of a stoic.

Wonderful book of observations both personal, and of the time. Like said above, although this reader has a great reading voice, I wish it sounded more like an adventure with revelations rather than smug and stoic - at least that’s how I interpreted the book while actually reading it hard copy.

The cost of things and wages seem to be incredibly different here in canada than in the US. Most of what he is “preaching” just isnt the same here.
Also, I feel like I’m listening to a televangelist. More lecturing than information.
There’s no way I’m getting through this whole book.

This book is what we all need to know right now. I knew it was bad but we are actually digging our own graves, and mass-graves at that.
Time to make some sweeping changes.
Thank you Dr. Greger for shining a very bright light on the viral world we live in that was not part of our world a short time ago.

There are no new ideas here - if you’ve read the other books don’t bother with this one, exactly the same advise.

The “Q” and “A” format for the ENTIRE book makes for brutal listening.

I’m returning the book.

What an excellent word artist. I've laughed until I cried. Clear and real. Awesome. So many gems.

This is the first 2.5 hours of an 9 hour book. The author, with very captivating writing, just scratches the surface of some of the true and real problems we are facing and leaves it at that. For example, I was looking forward to the nitty gritty of how insurance companies have taken a massive interest in weather modification for profit, which isn't quite gotten to here - along with actual depth on each of the other perspectives that are well introduced.

This could have been a really PHENOMENAL book but the author quit too soon.
In my opinion he never got to "the coming storm" part at all.

Michael Lewis, please pick up where you left off and go for it.

So this must be a juvenile book - I'm sorry I missed that fact before I bought it. Maybe it would be more interesting to a youth. I think it's trying to show that even an ordinary life is an "extraordinary" life, because boy was it boring and as average and ordinary as could be written. To make it worse, it perpetuates the BS of religion and tries to make it somehow right in the end - but doesn't. The characters, the lifeline, and the religion are as average as anyone could distill down. Nothing profound or enriching here, unless you want to be told to live in the same neighbourhood, go to the same church, believe the vague beliefs of your parents, and pass exactly the same thing onto the next generation.

It should be called how to get bogged down by life, cling to the past, and give in to the vague hope of religion.

I thought it would be more mature or profound.

Although I sincerely appreciate the positivity of this book, which is hard to find these days, I found the flakey "spirituality" too much, including some of the super flakey hippy voices created by the reader.
Although the overall idea is important, the shallow aura-reading-trying-to-get-grounded- spirituality has little depth to it. I have to keep turning it off - I am trying to finish the book in case there is something profound in the end.
I may be too old for this.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The graphic violence was over the top - and too well written.
Im not that into military books either - but I must say Steven Moss is an Excellent writer.

Do you think Fear the Survivors needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It does need a follow-up book, and I believe there is one, but I will not continue with the series.

Where does The Martian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The best #1Even if you've seen the movie, listen to this book!!!

What did you like best about this story?

The detail, the incredible determination of the central character, the imagination and research involved in writing this EXCELLENT book.It is an absolutly gorgeous mind movie. The narration!

Which scene was your favorite?

Andy Weir paints such excellent vivid scenes and RC Bray brings them to perfect life - there are too many favourite scenes to pick just one or two.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - and I have listened to it 50 times more while I cant sleep - I'm on Mars in my dreams now.

Any additional comments?

I am now looking at all the Andy Weir books and R.C Bray is my all time favourite narrator- I will buy almost anything read by him. Very talented guy. So easy to listen to - doesnt do stupid female voices - brings each character ablolutely alive. The only reader that even compares is Roy Dotrice (Game of Thrones narration) but for completely different reason. R.C. Bray is FLAWLESS.
