Historia
For Melanie Drake, school guidance counselor in a small Virginia town, the day’s challenges typically involve a playground scuffle or a student skipping school. It’s worlds away from her previous career as a vital part of the Office of Special Investigations. There, she devoted herself heart and soul to covert operations, the riskier the better.

Stupid Story, Horrible Narrator
Revisado: 09-25-24
Should have been marked YA. Boring unbelievable tale about a goody two shoes. Could have been read just as well by virtual voice. Made it through by napping and kept thinking it would get better. Worst book overall that I have read.

Good listen. Love Scott Brick and why I got the book. Luke is a likable character and will most likely listen to more of the series.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Really liked the story and narration was good. Daisy however started out as a Rottweiler and ended up a Pit Bull, something probably only a dog person would pick up on. Didn't disrupt the story at least.

Repeated phrases several times like a skip in a record, thought something was wrong with my app at first. Editing issue? Several mispronunciations throughout, but overall a decent performance and interesting listen

Historia
"That's not my sister." Overwhelmed by shock and relief, those are the only words Deven can muster when she is called to identify the body of a suicide victim. A body she was informed was her sister, Kennedy. But as she stares at the lifeless stranger, she's filled with questions: Who is this woman? Why was Deven listed as family? And most important, where is Kennedy? Her intuition tells her just one thing: this can't be a total coincidence.

Boring and Predictable
Revisado: 07-24-23
I don't usually figure out the twists but this one was easy. Narrator didn't do anything to enhance the story either. Not my cup of tea. Have a few minutes left to hear, but it would have to be a humdinger of an unexpected turn of events to make this one any good.

Should be labeled YA. Childish and couldn’t wait for it to end. Hoped for something to happen to make worth the time. It didn’t. Narrator did ok with what she had to work with but her tone added to the childishness of the story.

Revisado: 03-08-23
Whiney, unlikable protagonist. I actually had to replay the part about there being 2 narrators, they sounded the same to me. One of the few mysteries that I actually figured out before the end. Felt bad for most of the fathers in the story, women who have it ALL and still complaining.

Mute and completely unresponsive to the world around her, it's clear this mysterious girl has been damaged beyond repair. All Detective Josie Quinn can get from her is a name: Ramona. Over the Top Annoying
Revisado: 10-25-22
I like the story and am trying my best to get through it, but the narrator is HORRID! She sounds like a 12 year old trying to read for a movie part (that she has no chance of getting). Mispronunciation aside, the voices are all the same and extremely annoying. It is difficult to follow the story line sometimes because you don't know who is supposed to be talking. I like Lisa Regan's books but will not be purchasing hers or anyone else's titles with this narrator. Guess you have to hear her once to truly appreciate how bad a narrator can be and how badly they can ruin a good book.
