Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Read reviews of 5 and 6 before buying
Revisado: 03-10-23
This was a good book; the series is great up to book 3. But, read reviews of books 5, 6, and on before you waste your credits. The book is the authors story to destroy however he wants. Unless you want to listen to nothing but political rant with a bit of story wrapped around it, don't waste your time.
There are much better choices out there.

Historia
By the end of on average day in the early 21st century, human beings searching the Internet will amass eight trillion gigabytes of data. This staggering amount of information - unprecedented in history - can tell us a great deal about who we are - the fears, desires, and behaviors that drive us, and the conscious and unconscious decisions we make. From the profound to the mundane, we can gain astonishing knowledge about the human psyche that less than 20 years ago seemed unfathomable.

Political bias disguised as a book
Revisado: 03-21-20
I tried hard to get through the book, but the level of political bias in this is unbelievable. The author takes his preconceived notions and looks for data to back it up. I have only returned one book to audible, this will be the second. Let me give you an overview of the entire book:
Trump - bad
Trump - racist
Trump - evil
If you voted for trump, you are a racist, do not confuse me with the facts.
That should save you the 7 1/2 hours and the price of the book. Seriously, there are WAY better books out there that actually present information on big data that are educational rather than pure political bias.

Revisado: 03-15-20
This book is SO worth the credit or price! Easily the funniest book I have listened to in a very long time. Adam Baldwin does an outstanding job of reading the book, and Larry Correia's writing style will leave you in stiches. After listening to this book, I went out and bought the entirety of Monster Hunter International (more of Larry's books) just to get more of his writing.

Members of the military’s special operations branches share a closely guarded secret: They love their jobs. They relish the opportunity to fight. They are thankful for it, even, and hopeful that maybe they’ll get to kill a bunch of bad guys while they’re at it. You don’t necessarily need to thank them for their service - the pleasure is all theirs. In this hilarious and personal memoir, listeners ride shotgun alongside former Army Ranger and private military contractor and current social media phenomenon Mat Best, into the action and its aftermath, both abroad and at home.

Revisado: 08-23-19
This is easily the best book I have listened to in a long time! As soon as I heard Mat was releasing a book, I had it pre-ordered. I love his videos on YouTube, and couldn't wait for the book to come out. Well worth the wait! He brings so much humor to the table while telling the story of army life with no sugar coating.
If you are or were in the military, you will enjoy this book,. Just get it!

Needs to listen to his own advice
Revisado: 06-03-19
I'm not certain how much trust I put into the stories presented here. The Author could not even be bothered to verify current events, instead uses the media's view and even spin. If he is unwilling to provide due diligence for current events, how can we believe that events 100 or 1000 years ago are not being bent to match his narrative? He needs to listen to his own advice that he stated about Rachel Carson - "Don't let your own biases blind you."

If you are a woodworker, or are thinking about taking up woodworking, or I suppose just know what woodworking is, you will enjoy the book! Nick covers a lot of useful information in this book- even more so if you are just getting into the hobby. He is able to find humor in the most mundane tasks. I still chuckle over his description of learning to hammer a nail.
Seriously, if you have any interest in woodworking, just get the book!

Not a go to book

Not a go to book
Revisado: 05-29-19
The book has some good information in it, but all in all, not enough to justify it. If you are wanting to learn meditation, look elsewhere. If you want the history of meditation, it might be somewhat useful.
For me the narration was off putting. From time to time, I caught myself wondering if it were a computer doing text to audio. Many simple words were completely mispronounced. Definitely not a book I would listen to again. May have marginally been worth a once over, but not a repeat.

Historia
The Nazi regime preached an ideology of physical, mental, and moral purity. But as Norman Ohler reveals in this gripping new history, the Third Reich was saturated with drugs. On the eve of World War II, Germany was a pharmaceutical powerhouse, and companies such as Merck and Bayer cooked up cocaine, opiates, and, most of all, methamphetamines, to be consumed by everyone from factory workers to housewives to millions of German soldiers.

A Pharmaceutical view of the Third Reich
Revisado: 04-24-19
Excellent book! If you are interested in WWII history, you most certainly should read this book. It gives you a very different way of looking at some events and behaviors through the war years. The author doesn't draw any conclusions, but when you hear it and overlay this information with what you already have learned, it makes you think - Hitler's micromanagement of his underlings, battle decisions, etc.
For WWII history buffs, this book is a must!

Wondering whether eating powdered mummies might be just the thing to cure your ills? Tempted by those vintage ads suggesting you wear radioactive underpants for virility? Ever considered drilling a hole in your head to deal with those pesky headaches? Probably not. But for thousands of years, people have done things like this - and things that make radioactive underpants seem downright sensible! In their hit podcast, Sawbones, Sydnee and Justin McElroy breakdown the weird and wonderful way we got to modern healthcare. And some of the terrifying detours along the way.

A lot of interesting information but.....
Revisado: 04-24-19
I would like to start out by saying I have never heard of, nor listened to, the Sawbones Podcasts in the past. This book is the first time I have heard of it. If this book is presented like their podcast, then the listeners who like it will most likely love the book as well. For a first time listener to any of their material, here is my view on the book:
This book does contain a lot of interesting information. However, that being said, it would be a much better book if it eliminated 99% of the banter and 50% of the attempts at humor. I'm sorry to say, but for me, Justin really detracted from the overall book. Dr. McElroy would have carried off the book much better on her own.
Some of the stories I have read about elsewhere, but much of the information was new to me. Overall, the book was worth the time. The research was well done, the information well presented. The back and forth really ruined it for me at times.
That being said, I would still be willing to give the next book they bring out a chance.
