I have enjoyed Boyd Craven's books before, but...

I tried to like these books. The unreal situation with all the ER doctors and the builder made it hard to believe. That mixed with the annoying interplay of the characters (e.g. the wooden spoon or the kid, the annoying woman who crudely threatens to stomp others), I finally gave up. Maybe next time, Boyd.

I bought this series (the prequel and book 1) because Audible recommended them to me. They sounded good, but I thought they would be more of the survivalist or prepper genre. They are not. Just a story of Chinese invasion of California in a dystopian future. NOT MY STYLE!! I could barely get past the prequel.

Too MAD MAX!

I have tried to listen to this series and find it too MAD MAX and no very realistic. The TWO biker gang on a scavenger hunt is not very realistic. After book 3, I quit.
God help us if SHTF ends up like this.

Kinda unbelievable story

I am a Mark Goodwin fan and wanted to believe this story. As I listened I just became more and more disengaged as the president kept coming to her to pull off ops as opposed as opposed to asking special operators. She was untrained and un-disciplined!
Also, the dad coming back from 20 +/- years in China?!?
I didn't get it.

I have recently listened to 1984 and Animal Farm and enjoyed both. I only got 5 chapters into Brave New World, and stopped. It was unbearable with little story. It is a story about a dystopian world of Pavlovian brainwashing and centralized control, but painfully and annoyingly boring!
