Poorly written but funny

The action scenes aren’t bad and the jokes (mostly) hit, but everything in between needs a lot of work. Also, character development is inconsistent - sort of makes sense for the protagonist, but the rest need work. The narration, however, is excellent. Honestly, it carries the story.

Voice doesn’t match

When I’m listening to a story that’s recorded by the full cast I have higher expectations that the voice actors will sound appropriate to their characters. I can’t blame it all on the actress though, because it’s the writing too. It’s like the character itself doesn’t sound appropriate to her age. The main character states that she was a sophomore in high school 15 years ago. That would make her around 30 now. But her cadence, vocabulary, vocal tone, and overall demeanor make her sound like she’s a teenager.
Otherwise a good story, to be honest, but it would have been better if the 30 year old character sounded over 16.

Not too shabby

For a first novel, I think this is excellent. The chicken established apocalypse and brought us into what would happen when it got to their own land.
I wish their had been a bit more writing,dedicated to descriptions, and not so much constant dialogue, but either way it’s still definitely got the work done without it sounding choppy or forced. Keep up the good work Adrian.

I did not enjoy this book. It rambled forward and backward between the past present and future. The use of cuss words when it’s not appropriate or not needed.

I really like the overall story, but I'm starting to really hate the main character. She was originally a believably independent single mother, just stating in real estate. However, getting laid apparently rots the brain. She has since morphed into a completely insipid twit, in regards to ALL areas of her life. What is she, 12?

the rangers are so close a copy of GOT the night's watch that it seriously borders on copyright infringement. I am a big fan of both narrators and had high hopes for this book. very disappointing.

If Geisha had magic...

The striking similarities between Asha and Japanese Geisha is intriguing. Loved this story. The attention to detail in this book is superb. The narration is top notch. Definitely recommend this book.

Ridiculously good!!

It caught my attention because when I make up stories for my kids I always start with "Once Upon a Time in the land of nowhere in particular..." The first chapter or two I was a bit unsure what I thought of it, but then it swept me away and I couldn't put it down. This story is full of twists you'll never see coming and absolutely hilarious. 500 Stars!!
