Historia
In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

Thought Provoking Conclusion
Revisado: 01-11-20
I really enjoyed the final installment to the Scythedom. After reading reviews, I can see that other readers think the gender identity discussions in the book are a "political" agenda. I find that strange since the discussions are more sociological than political. The topic would be political if basic human rights are being discussed to include genders beyond non binary, and (spoiler) they aren't. I thought it was nice to have a character who doesn't represent the binary norms and it is delivered in a non abrasive way. As the author does a great job illustrating, the world is complex, and characters feel like they are making real choices. Sometimes real choices aren't climatic, and I appreciated that Neal has something fresh to offer. The love story was more about the Thuderhead's love for humanity; not necessarily about any of the other character's love for each other, and I think that's the point. We should put our love for humanity first, above power or recognition, even when it is inconvenient for our personal agenda. Anyway, I recommend this book to anyone looking for a thought provoking conclusion to the philosophical questions presented in it's predecessors.

Zero Character Development
Revisado: 07-27-18
This book had so much potential. The bones of a good story are there. But sadly, it’s disappointing.
Spoiler free:
The characters are as flat as an European pancake. If you enjoy 100% plot progressive stories, then go for it. If you like to understand character’s internal struggles, skip. It will be a novel of lots and lots and lots of dialogue explaining exposition. You’ll never have to guess what a character is thinking or their motives. They will just say it.
Spoilers ahoy: for those who have read and are as confused as I was
Let’s talk about the characters.
Hunter - a sweet fae who is just as much of a victim as the main character, but he can ever catch a break. Yes, he works for the wild hunt, but he expressed how he doesn’t have a choice while Morgan is in power. The theme of the book is if Morgan says, it goes. So how can Serena just decide he can change things and then wish death on him when he chooses not to? She literally had no issues about Wilder killing for Morgan in the past because he “saw his wrongs” but so did Hunter. He literally says it. The only difference was that Morgan let Wilder go and not Hunter. It just makes no sense how Serena can love Wilder and hate Hunter. And it makes less sense that she would decide he wasn’t more valuable as an alley than an enemy. She had an inside source who she throws away because of?...ugh, I can’t figure this one out.
Frazier - how can we just find away around love triangle? Add a overly possessive character who has 0 reason to be curious about 1 human and then have them share memories together on their 2nd mission. But then let’s bond them together for no reason other than they are both sad. This will only take like a week after they meet each other. Then you have an overly protective male character who is not a love interest but might as well be. Brothers/kin aren’t that possessive; protective and annoying but not where no one can even touch you. It was like she couldn’t eat breakfast without him being like “if that hot biscuit burns you again, I’ll kill it.” And no worries, we know every single time Frazer was “furious” or “murderous”, Serena does a great job of saying it every. Single. Time.
The rest of the characters were ok (except Wilder x Serena but I can’t even get into the love at first sight and no other reason to like each other trope). I couldn’t ignore the lack of any characters changing after act 1.
I really wanted to like this book. And I did in the beginning. I would skip it.

IT'S A SURPRISE AND A WILD RIDE
Revisado: 06-29-18
This has been the best book I have listened to in a very long time. You will lose yourself in the story, the world, the characters, everything. The writing and plot is so refreshing. The narrator does a fantastic job. Her choices, diction, and delivery are different from what the author writes and I loved every moment of it. It felt like living the book and not just listening and reading. The story is fresh. Honestly, I can't think of any reason not to at least give it a try. I can't wait for the next one.

Just A lot of Meh
Revisado: 05-16-17
There is so much fluff in this book that I just have to roll my eyes a lot. This book just didn't need to be this long. The voice actor was fantastic, but the plot progression was at a snails pace. Not to mention plot device characters throughout. And if you think character development is going to happen, think again. So slow plot, no development in character's and lots of use of the word mate.

Beauty knows the Beast's forest in her bones - and in her blood. After all, her father is the only hunter who's ever come close to discovering its secrets. So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters out of their comfortable home among the aristocracy and back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there's no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman.

Great Performance By Rebecca Soler
Revisado: 11-28-16
I have read Alice in Wonderland, so this was a fresh story for me (I have seen the movies, old and new). At first the story is long and slow. Filled with descriptions and hardly any characters, but the 2nd act makes it worth listening to. Although we all know how this prequel ends, you can help but have a broken heart for the queen of hearts. The narrator does a fantastic job with her acting. Just spectacular. How the characters voices change with their situations. Great job. If it had a faster or purposeful beginning, it would easily be 5 stars.

Narrator Saved This Book
Revisado: 11-17-16
This is a fine example of how sometimes the audio book is a better experience than reading alone. The story itself was flat and very predictable. It became very preachy towards the end, and the main protagonist never really grows in character. It's a fun read if you enjoy reading different possibilities of characters, which is why I drift to dimensional travel books; however, the self sulking in this is so unreal. None of the bad guys make sense, and the conclusion is SO weak and convenient. But God. The narrator Saved the day. I wouldn't have been able to read this, but Tavia really did an amazing job voice acting. One of the best performances I've heard in a while. She hits her beats and emotional spots perfectly.

Great Narrator but Boring Story
Revisado: 09-02-16
Nicola Barber is an amazing narrator. She is the only reason I was able to finish this book. She is an example of how story telling can be more powerful than the actually story. That being said, this story was so predictable with a weak plot. It's about 150 pages too long. A lot of fluff. Just not interesting, except for narration.
