This is an overview of the 350 years of Empire after The Republic told through short biographies of ten caesars. With Augustus, the first caesar of The Empire to Constantine's establishment of the Byzantine Empire. Somewhat interesting selection but the overarching narrative gets a bit bogged down by details. Near the end of the book Strauss refutes Gibbons' thesis that Christianity ended the western part of the Roman Empire with "Nonsense! Why would then Constantinopel and the eastern Empire flourish under the same Christianity?" This is a silly argument as early Christianity, before emperor Constantine, grew by undermining the powers that be and thereby weakened its followers' motivation to support the established system and the Roman robber-state's constant need of legionaries. Christianity spread peacefully in the beginning as it did not yet have an army lead by a conquerer. It was more of a grassroots movement. When the same movement eventually gained power, they behaved quite differently. As history shows with the later Crusades. As also with Islam and Mohammads meek early years in Mekka, compared to his fierce brutality when more established in Medina. Or as with the long buildup and eventual brutality making for the French Revolution. So the same Christianity that challenged and undermined to bring about the end of western Rome was, because of Constantine, the conquering dominating force establishing power in the east.

This is an intelligent, insightful and honest rendering of the perversions of justice done by the criminally insane DNC during the Trump-presidency.

Quite the chore getting through, this masterful book of digressions. Part poem, play, novel, memoir and general erudtion in a language sometimes approaching Shakespeare. And the narrator baffles too.

Jason Pargin must be the most creative writer of hilarious scifi-horror in the game, -besides Karine Jean-Pierre, of course; but affirmative action for hilarity aside, THE absolute brilliance personified. This third installment in the series is as original and intelligent as its predecessors.

Jeff Strand perfects his own genre of books, with the tightest, funniest horror there is. Absolutely brilliantly plotted, with hilarious dialogue. And hilariously delivered by the exceptional talent of Scott Thomas
