Thaden is in need of a break, he’s by far the most impactful being on Tarth. Finally the system sends out help to combat the growing issues and they are weakened to maintain balance. This would be fine in normal circumstances but clearly that’s not what we have. And Thaden is again the only one who can actually do any good, but this system help can’t comprehend that a contender could possibly be of any use, if fact they actively try to eliminate him. And the adversary also can’t bother to give him the time of day.
My hope is that Thaden can slap both sides of this conflict up side the head and eventually get an explanation of what is actually going on.
Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Patches!!

Don’t let them fool you, this is about the overseer of the tavernly realm. Patches is a chonky pub cat who finally gets a loyal subject to brew ale and clean up the pub. Because when people visit the pub, patches gets attention which increases his overall power (MLUs). That power allows him to grow strong and use his abilities to protect the tavernly realm from intruders like thieves and demons.
Yeah ok, so Sylas is the guy who dies, finds out he is in the underworld and now is the owner of a pub. He encounters Mira an apothecary who helps guide him. He aspires to bring “life” back to the sleepy town by getting everyone together regularly over a pint and some good food. There are a wonderful ensemble of characters with unique abilities and characteristics, but Patches is the star. And you should know better than to ignore the wishes of a cat, so go read/listen for yourself.

Why is the bard left behind telling the story of the four? Oh, that’s why.. but now I want to know what’s next.
The whole series was told wonderfully and I love the characters. The hold the kingdom has on its ascenders has always pissed me off, but that was the point, I love Luke’s ability to take everything so literally and annoy those in power. I was happy that his decades away didn’t completely stop him from helping his family when they (sally) needed him.

Just get to the story

There is so much back and forth trying to cram back story in that the story itself is dragged out and not enjoyable. I want to know what happens and why but it is poorly conveyed.

This story is told in a way that is extremely entertaining and keep my attention. Very enjoyable and performed better than other stories I’ve listened to.
