Ronconi is awesome
Revisado: 12-22-20
I have loved other (Molly Harper) books read by Amanda Ronconi. I have also read and enjoyed most of this mystery series. The combination of the two for "Spouse on Haunted Hill" is the perfect marriage.❤️😍😊

Historia
Ever since Jane Jameson took over running the Vampire Council for Half-Moon Hollow, things have been a little unorthodox, and that doesn’t sit well with the head office. Who would have thought vampires were so into bureaucracy and tradition? Enter a vamp from corporate who’s determined to unseat Jane and get the council back on track - which means no more of this Kentucky neighborliness and mixing with humans, werewolves, witches, or anything else. But Jane’s not interested in going back to the bad old days when the council was mired in corruption.

As usual, Amanda Ronconi has done a fantastic job bringing the story to life. This story is one of Molly Harper's best, with romance, snark, and a behind-the-scene look at tourism, museums, and musical history.

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

I love Molly Harper's books and Linda Ronconi's great narration skills, but this book was her very best romance. Ghosts, paranormal possession s, and great humor make this my favorite so far. (I certainly intend to keep listening to more!)

Historia
Molly Harper brings her signature "clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists" ( Booklist) to the charming small town of Lake Sackett, Georgia with the new Southern Eclectic series. Carl and Marianne were high school sweethearts, loving the way only teenagers can - with no thought to logic or pride, just a bone-headed, optimistic frenzy of unicorns and hormones. That was all they needed. Or so Carl thought. Scared of being stuck in Lake Sackett, Georgia, like so many of her friends, Marianne panicked and bolted....

Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

This was such fun, with just enough mystery. The use of two narrators kept up the interest as well. Lovers of paranormal romances will love Mystic Bayou!

Strange and compelling
Revisado: 12-04-17
This novel is truly bizarre, but don't give up on listening to it! The truths embedded in the magical realism are worth it. Beautifully written and beautifully read, this novel has much to say to each of us. Don't be afraid of miracles, because "miracles" are a lot like happiness".

People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Historia
Christian Stern, an ambitious young scholar and alchemist, arrives in Prague in the bitter winter of 1599, intent on making his fortune at the court of the Holy Roman Emperor, the eccentric Rudolf II. The night of his arrival, drunk and lost, Christian stumbles upon the body of a young woman in Golden Lane, an alley hard by Rudolf’s great castle. Dressed in a velvet gown, wearing a large gold medallion around her neck, the woman is clearly well-born—or was, for her throat has been slashed.

Rich, beautiful writing
Revisado: 09-14-17
This is a slow-moving, richly told tale that will be loved by those who appreciate historical fiction. As always, the story is brought to life by the dramatic reading, with all the varied voices and accents. I personally found it a bit slow and I am not much interested in the history involved, but many will love it.
