Amazing Experience
Revisado: 03-08-23
The poetry and agony in this author’s words broke my heart and filled me with amazement at his ability to survive and overcome experiences that would have broken me. This is a must read - well-performed and exquisitely written.

Brilliant, listenable, and raw. Maj. (ret.) Danny Sjursen, who served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and later taught history at West Point, delivers a true epic and the perfect companion to Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States.

The raw facts are good but the info is very bias.

Awesome book!
Revisado: 02-20-23
I was hungry for a history book that told the truth and I believe I found it here. It wasn’t always easy to listen to, but I learned a great deal. Having the author narrate was a great move. I highly recommend this book!

Since the 1970s, FantasticLand has been the theme park where "Fun is Guaranteed!" But when a hurricane ravages the Florida coast and isolates the park, the employees find it anything but fun. Five weeks later, the authorities who rescue the survivors encounter a scene of horror. Photos soon emerge online of heads on spikes outside of rides and viscera and human bones littering the gift shops, breaking records for hits, views, likes, clicks, and shares.

Good story/Silly ending
Revisado: 11-30-22
I enjoyed the first 75% of this book, and the narration was excellent. Then it seemed like the author woke up one day and had no idea how to bring the book to a close - so he bailed. The best part of fiction is that there can be twists and interesting things happening to the very end. No twists here - just the quiet petering out of the plot. The villain interview near the end of the book was agonizing, so I had to skip forward for the first time ever on Audible. The good news is the price was right - free.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Amazing story and narration
Revisado: 10-29-22
This is a must-read. Tara’s story is shocking and painful and uplifting, and I am a better person for having listened to it. The narration was perfect and I was sorry to see it end.

Historia
Lenora Chu and her husband decided to enroll three-year-old Rainer in China's state-run public school system. The results were positive - her son quickly settled down, became fluent in Mandarin, and enjoyed his friends - but she also began to notice troubling new behaviors. Wondering what was happening behind closed classroom doors, she embarked on an exploratory journey, interviewing Chinese parents, teachers, and education professors, and following students at all stages of their education.

Exquisite Read
Revisado: 08-28-22
I loved this book. I have a health care background and I know every observation and emotion is surely true. I normally listen only on my commute, but I sat in silence at home listening for the last 15 minutes with chills because of her tremendous honesty and compassion. This is a must-read.
