Historia
All Things Bright and Beautiful is the beloved sequel to Herriot's first collection, All Creatures Great and Small, and picks up as Herriot, now newly married, journeys among the remote hillside farms and valley towns of the Yorkshire Dales, caring for their inhabitants - both two- and four-legged. Throughout, Herriot's deep compassion, humor, and love of life shine as we laugh, cry, and delight in the portraits of his many varied animal patients and their equally varied owners.

The simple beauty of the people and the awesome description of Yorkshire.

James has such honesty and charactor that was at that time something that was more the rule than an exception!

This author stitches the story around players haunted by their past that continually adds to the light and darkness of their characters. All this becomes a backdrop of a powerful family surrounded by the beauty of the Villa and the ugliness of those who wish to destroy them.

"Fool Me Once" worth your time!
Revisado: 08-16-23
The story has a balance between periods of calm (almost too slow) then picks up at a pace that keeps the listener wanting. Each episode "plays" the audience with just enough interest that assumes the whole before it is ready. The biggest surprise is placed where one would least expect it. Regards

Hendrik Groen may be old, but he is far from dead and isn't planning to be buried any time soon. Granted, his daily strolls are getting shorter because his legs are no longer willing, and he has to visit his doctor more than he'd like. Technically speaking he is...elderly. But surely there is more to life at his age than weak tea and potted geraniums? Hendrik sets out to write an exposé: a year in the life of his care home in Amsterdam, revealing all its ups and downs.

It takes him back to when, fresh from the battlefields of Vietnam, then-deputy Walt accompanied his mentor Lucian to the annual Wyoming Sheriff's Association junket held on the excursion train known as the Western Star, which ran the length of Wyoming from Cheyenne to Evanston and back.

If you can listen carefully, you will enjoy how past and present circle and intertwine until they join. On of the best of the Longmire series. My question, when can we acquire the next book?

What a wonderful surprise!
Revisado: 02-19-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Return to Me to be better than the print version?
Have not read the print version however we do enjoy the extra benefit of an audible performance.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Eido (sp?) was especially appreciated for his veracity and his vision which many could not understand. And yet, they finally "got it".
Which scene was your favorite?
There were so many difficult scenes that we enjoyed it is hard to pick one.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, we stayed up much longer than we planned so we could find out what was the outcome.

Country Grit
Revisado: 08-16-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Cold Dish to be better than the print version?
Yes, the audio provides the listener with a view of the scene and characters that enhance the overall story. I can listen for several hours without losing the theme or the mental visuals. Without the audible, I lose my concentration, missing the inflections that George so aptly produces. Typically, I'm a Clancy fan, so the slower pace initially was bothersome..but having said that, I readjusted my hurry-up mentality and just let the story unfold. I was extremely satisfied with the different pace and now I'm struggling each month to decide between the two series. Regards..
Who was your favorite character and why?
Henry Standing Bear seems to steal the show whenever he speaks. Vic seems to be a little coarse for my taste, but adds variety to the overall story.
Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Basically unfamiliar with George, but impressed with his performance on how he places the listener in the middle of the story and provides you with the country pace that is addicting.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Walt's could-be girl friend was a surprise especially at the end.
