Spoiler alert this review discusses the plot settings and character descriptions that may reveal storyline items.

It didn’t seem in character or even plausible that the Darcys would remove to a remote castle without a slew of servants. Yes Darcy wanted to hide his sister’s condition but he would have a set of trusted servants. Also Wickham would have hung for assaulting an upper class gentleman. Darcy’s uncle was an Earl, which would increase the consequences of the assault and not requiring him to be in court.

Lastly, the huge deviation on P&P plot having Wickham in line to inherit Pemberly. That was hard to accept. What ???

Really - Wickham the all controlling

Good characters, not a bad storyline just hard to swallow that the Wickham character would really have that much power and control over the Darcy family. And being able to manipulate multiple servants at Pemberley. Also how did Wickham have the resources to track/ follow Darcy and his shop.

Flat plot line

The plot line was a bit flat, without the presence of active villains like George Wickham (his character was discussed about but he had no speaking parts).

Heartbreaking

Did not enjoy our beloved Colonel Fitzwilliam getting the short end of the stick.  Darcy‘s character was a bit over the top.

Background noise

The initial story line is charming but really derails from Austen’s characters at the end. Also if you listen closely like with AirPods, you will hear background noise,such as dogs barking in 19 min 7 seconds into chapter 15.

Well written and faithful narrative

I enjoyed this P&P variation as the characters are faithful to the original ones created by Jane Austen. The plot twist was very interesting but not completely believable. I really liked how the author expands upon and shares Lizzy’s private thoughts, especially when they highlight her attraction to Mr. Darcy.

Get the 20th Anniversary version read by author

I really like what this book has to offer - lots of practical good messages. I just found it hard to listen all the way through. However, when I purchased the latest version, 20th Anniversary, which is read by the author, Brene Brown, I really enjoyed listening and was able to finish the book.

Narration BAD

The narrator’s accent was different - not sure how to describe it - maybe Old Irish. I almost stopped listening, but my desperation to hear another PP variation compelled me to keep listening.

Enjoyable Pride & Prejudice remix

This one of my favorite “Pride & Prejudice remix” novels. I really enjoyed Stevie Zimmerman’s narration. The overall plot was engaging and the characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy held true to Jane Austen’s original novel. The prose flowed smoothly without too many victorian-superlatives in the text. The only out-of-character act was Mr. Darcy‘s negative response to a forced/ honor-bound marriage arrangement. Still a great story which I have listened to several times :-)

weak plot and flat characters

The plot and characters were not deep enough, they were too simple and predictable. Also, the writing style was a bit too flamboyant for my taste - loss some of the metaphors.
