This book represents the most “accessible” story in the recent Chicago-verse series. Neither of the main characters is a millionaire, a celebrity, or company president. Ryan and Jameson are just two hard working men from very different backgrounds struggling to reconcile their feeling for one another with their pasts and presents. The feelings they have for one another are incredibly strong, and even in the face of drama and baggage, they’re unable to walk away from one another. The big question is: how will they go forward?“ We’ll have to wait until book 2 in the series comes out to see how the story ends!
Kudos to Ella Frank four an outstanding job of developing cute characters we’ve met and other stories so wonderfully and Foley. A shout out to Charlie David for a fabulous job narrating.

I love this book! Andre and Marcus are two strong, well educated, African-American men WB (with baggage) who must navigate the waters both personally and professionally after a smokin’ hot hookup. As business opportunities and familial relationships, drama, and attitudes collide with emotions , desires, and needs, both Andre and Marcus must reevaluate their situations if they are to have a future together.
The main characters are richly developed , likable, and relatable. The secondary characters especially the very sassy Fiona, Jake, and Harold provide perspective which enhanced the depth of both Andre and Marcus. The scenes involving the parents/siblings are essential in understanding both men.
Props to the narrators for a job well done.
Thank you Jayce Ellis for creating a story about people like me!

The Story of Three Friends Continues

In Learned Reactions, the story of the three friends - Jaquan, Carlton, and Lawrence - introduced in Learned Behaviors continues. This time Ellis focuses on the relationship between Carlton and Deion, a twenty year friendship; and how each man struggles to come to grips with their wants, needs, passion, desires, and fears when Carlton’s niece enters their lives.

Ellis crafts another rich story of friendship, family, love and romance. Ellis raises appropriate and relevant social issues and attitudes in the mix not as insurmountable, but as a recognition of immediate/longer term challenges the characters may face in a compelling manner. The courtroom scenes at the end of this story are heartwarming and brought tears to my eyes as they captured a positive and supportive Black family experience which was so personally familiar.

Jayce Ellis please continue this series. Matt and Jaquan got their happy ending in Learned Behaviors; Carlton and Deion found theirs in this book; so please don’t leave us wondering too long about what happened/happens between Lawrence and Vance!

From the opening to the ending, I was totally engrossed. Ms. Ellis has developed a set of characters with so much depth that it’s easy to fall in love with them all! This book is more than just a m/m romance: It’s a celebration of friendship and family.
The romance between Jaquan and Matt is full of exciting twists and turns. Thank you Ms. Ellis for giving us a story about two strong African-American men searching for themselves and for love, and finding what they were looking for and needing in each other! This book should appeal to a broad audience.
I would also be remiss if I did not give a shout out to K. Benard! Narration it’s excellent.
