Enjoyed it!
Revisado: 08-17-24
This story was the perfect get away and reminder that God truly turns beauty from ashes. As always, I fell in love with Rachel Hauck’s characters, I laughed, I cheered, I fretted just a little, and then I sighed in relief as the story fittingly tied up all the loose strings. Well done!

Loved the story, the characters, and the charm. Don’t you wish we could all meet at the Starlight?
Revisado: 08-13-24
Rachel Hauck is one of my favorites. When I pick up one of her books, I often laugh, I often cry, and I always look forward to the next one. Meet Me at the Starlight takes me back to my childhood and also reminds me of stories of my grandparents. I got so caught up in the characters of this one. Who couldn’t relate to Harlow’s struggles or really want to join the fight against Harry’s horrible plans and selfish ambitions? I cheered when Harlow took the leap of faith and left Zander to just standing there, alone with his ego. I fell in love with Tuesday and her gentle strength. And Matt was a true hero and knight in shining armor. Well done!

A Story Full of Characters You’ll Want to Meet
Revisado: 06-22-24
Rachel Hauck weaved together a heartfelt story full of endearing characters. She made me laugh, she made me contemplate the messages each life represented, and she reminded me of the power of forgiveness. I’d recommend grabbing a cup of your favorite brew and settling in for a trip down memory lane.

Had potential but…
Revisado: 04-17-24
I thought the story had promise initially, but it began to drag midway through and I became disinterested. I finished it just to finish it. Also, I bought the audio book and the narration was hit and miss. One lead male character sounded participating rough. I’ll try the author again, but this one just wasn’t my favorite.

The Male Welsh Accent was a Fail
Revisado: 01-01-20
I could not get past the horrible accent of one of the lead male characters. It ruined the story for me, which was predictable and more frustrating than interesting.

Historia
One hundred fifty years of Roses' Tolivers, Warwicks, and DuMonts! We begin in the antebellum South on Plantation Alley in South Carolina, where Silas Toliver, deprived of his inheritance, joins up with his best friend Jeremy Warwick to plan a wagon train expedition to the "black waxy" promise of a new territory called Texas. Slavery, westward expansion, abolition, the Civil War, love, marriage, friendship, tragedy and triumph-all the ingredients (and much more) that made so many love Roses so much-are here in abundance.

Performance Trouble
Revisado: 10-28-19
The southern accent used by the narrator for some of the characters was cringe worthy. It was so bad the story suffered. I endured it to the end but I will be sure to avoid Teresa DeBerry’s work in the future.

Historia
In this irresistibly imagined belowstairs answer to Pride and Prejudice, the servants take center stage. Sarah, the orphaned housemaid, spends her days scrubbing the laundry, polishing the floors, and emptying the chamber pots for the Bennet household. But there is just as much romance, heartbreak, and intrigue downstairs at Longbourn as there is upstairs. When a mysterious new footman arrives, the orderly realm of the servants’ hall threatens to be completely, perhaps irrevocably, upended.

Reader Beware if you loved the Bennet Family
Revisado: 07-07-19
If you sought to take a beloved classic and twist all the characters from heroes to villains, you succeeded. True, the hardships and living conditions for house staff at that time where displayed accurately, but it seems you did so at the expense of a beloved author and her story.
