Listening and watching the series kind of at the same time and thoroughly enjoying both. My only comment: I wish the narrator had been more adept at fleshing out the characters. With only a few exceptions, they sound generic and lack substance and depth. (Why does Da Shi have a New York accent?)

Love everything about this book, except the narration. Would love to hear a Ray Porter or a Jonathan Davis version.

Most enjoyable read in a long time. Stephen King has created an incredibly dark but equally tender suspense story. Paul Sparks is outstanding as story-performer.

To begin with, I am a fan of the David Wolf series. Period. But honestly I'm beginning to tire of the writer's overuse of simile, pointless adjectives, and alliterative phrases. (I think I counted over a dozen versions of "he/they/she stood/sat in silence" in this book) As of now--Book 9--I think I'm still ready to dive into Book 10, Maybe. I'm having some trouble getting past the reader's over enunciation. Keep hoping the reader will change and we'll have somebody who reads dialogue the way people actually talk.

Great Chicago backstory; Strange writing style

Clearly written by somebody else, with too many carefully worded phrases. I imagine Serphine recorded his story first, then Mitchell went through, bit by bit, substituting words and every-so-slightly spinning events in Serphine's favor. Great history of Chicago but, as a diehard Chicago fan, am still waiting for one of the original members to write his own honest account, warts and all.

Great Trilogy!

This trilogy ticks every box on my list. Written beautifully; characters written well; narration is superb. Although....one tiny pet peeve regarding Jonathan Davis's narration--I would love his female characters to sound as intelligent as they're written.
The story is compelling and moves at a satisfying rate. And, during this volatile political time, I very much enjoyed living vicariously through Sheriff Duke trying to rid the Earth of the sadistic, self-absorbed, sociopathic King.

Excessive use of similes and metaphors. Distracting and unnecessary use of he-said, she-said. A fine effort for a Writing 101 class, but not for using one of my audible credits. Narrator over enunciates and simply reads the story, rather than tells the story. I'll be exchanging this one.

I wanted to love this one, I really did. But two hours from the end, I realized I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. I'm sure it was Tim Matheson's narration that kept me listening so long into the book. Inarguably a well written story and a captivating setting. However, nothing grabbed my heartstrings nor captured my interest enough to finish.

Wanted a good to great scifi episodic listen. What I got instead is a story about two so-called astronauts who talk, and babble, and laugh (oh lordy, the laughter!) like high schoolers at a Friday sock hop. Astronauts, really? Highly trained, intelligent, specialists in their field, really? Got as far as the third episode before I was swearing out loud on my morning walk.

Faultless in every respect--story, performance, and writing. Until now I've always just read this classic. But listening to Tim Curry's performance of Dickens' story is pure perfection.
