I can’t stand Freye
Revisado: 01-09-25
I liked the book overall, but it took me forever to finish because I was so annoyed with Freye. I love all the other characters is the series, but Freye is self-centered, quick to judge others, vindictive, yet expects everyone to forgive her and doesn’t feel the need to ever explain herself.

They always made the obviously wrong decisions
Revisado: 05-01-24
Narration was great, as always! But I struggled to finish the story. Jacob made poor choices and decisions at every turn, which grew monotonous. Even though he is a teenager, the way he could forget and move on from his love for Emma after only a few days made me dislike him throughout the book. He now seems shallow, “falling for” the new shinny object who “needs him” because he finally knows more about peculiars than someone else. I don’t know if I will bother with the 6th book. If you didn’t love book 4, I would stop there and not read book 5.

Historia
This book is more a spy thriller than just a mystery as the exceptional Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, gets greatly involved in international intrigue and espionage. He attempts to defeat a ruthless cartel trying to dominate the world … in essence super criminals forming a cruel coalition. Poirot’s efforts include help from his closest friend, Captain Arthur Hastings, and also Inspector Japp of Scotland Yard. As we begin the tale, Hastings is just returning from a voyage at sea that he despises and is venting his displeasure as he looks forward to joining his friend.

I could finish, the narration was terrible and gave me headaches.

The story may have been amazing, but I didn’t hear any of it. I could listen for more than an hour. And Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors. I listen to her books over and over again. But not this recording!!!

Historia
Cantankerous and vinegar-tongued Grandmama, from Anne Perry's Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series, is the leading character in this Christmas novel, which unfolds in the chilly, windswept Romney Marshes off the English Channel. Grandmama arrives on a holiday visit to the home of Charlotte's parents, where a fellow guest--an outcast from her own family--is subsequently murdered. Like the heroes before her in Anne Perry's Christmas novels, Grandmama is called upon to play the role of amateur detective.
