I've been a major fan of this series for years. Even if that has become something of a meme in the haremlit community. It took WAY longer than it should have to get this audiobook out, and while I don't know every behind the scenes issue, I can't help but feel that the authors have really let the quality slip along with their regard for their readers/listeners.

The most glaring issue about Book 6 is the missing dialogue audio from both Kieren and Amber throughout the book. Kieran has the most instances of missing dialogue, but Amber's parts are also missing in very crucial spots as well. Most of the missing dialogue is from background characters and a few supporting male characters, but there are absolutely inexcusable instances of Frost, the main character, missing important dialogue. This should have been caught and corrected by the authors before releasing the audiobook, especially after all the delays the release has had up until this point. Later in the book we get missing dialogue from Amber, the most important of which are in the last chapter.

It has long been suspected that Tamryn Tamer used a ghost writer or two for every book after the first one or two. However, this shouldn't have impacted the audio for Book 5. What would impact the audio quality after such a long delay is Incompetence and a lack of a sense of duty as authors. Judging by the end of this book, I suspect they had intended at least two or three more books before ending the series. Honestly, I'm not sure we will get a book 6 at this point, and I know I'm not alone in that assumption. My only hope is that they choose to write book 6 themselves, or find a properly experienced ghost writer in the haremlit or erotica genre to handle the writing moving forward. Tamryn Tamer also needs to make sure they properly compensate this individual and stop acting scummy towards their readers. These books might not be their main source of income, but they should feel a sense of responsibility towards the people buying the books.

A little honesty and transparency goes a long way.

In terms of the story itself, it's not bad. It's not as interesting as books 3 and 4 in terms of drama or erotica, but it's certainly a more mellow story for those who go right from book 4 to 5, which might be a nice pallet cleanser. I know how a lot of the haremlit community doesn't have the stomach for the way Brynn acted in book 4, so this book would certainly ease that tension. We do get arguably the most fun character introduced early in this book, so that's certainly a high point.

All praise Twii!

To be honest, I enjoyed probably 99% of the book. If was an interesting story, and the narration was delightful. However, about halfway into it, you begin to realize that the author was in desperate need of a thesaurus. Words like "pleasure", "core", and "center" are used and reused at nauseum. "Pleasure" is the ultimate offender of this.

Hopefully, the author has corrected this in her more recent works. If you can deal with the repetition of terms, this book is a rather steamy lesbian tale.

The performance of the narrator was stellar. Hell, most of the writing was great. However, every time the author writes about misogyny and the patriarchy, it actually rips you out of the story and into politics that have no place in a steamy romance. Taylor is an insufferable character whose only personality traits are tiktok, Tumblr, and suffrage. Good story held back by the author's envy of masculinity.

I recently listened to and reviewed "Pinwheel," a book by the same author featuring the same narrator. My review on that title was generally mixed, but I enjoyed it overall. However, this book seems to have avoided the few shortcomings I found in "Pinwheel." The story itself is great and well-paced. Ryan, the MC, is a pretty believable and down-to-earth protagonist. One who I've shared similar experiences with, so it was easy for me to identify with him ad a character. The female lead, whose name I'm unsure how to spell at the moment, was an interesting and pleasant character. The love interest from "Pinwheel" was intense from the get-go and a bit overbearing, which was hot, not going to lie, but goat mommy is a different beast altogether. It's still very much a femdom story, however Nahash (might be the spelling?) is much more motherly and affectionate. She's still very much in control and has her sadistic points, but the woman is far more tender than Raz from "Pinwheel."

The narrator, Ms. Black, uses her husky feminine voice to great effect here. The accent she gives Nahash is exotic and pleasant. A delicious purr that you can listen to for hours. Her performance in "Pinwheel" is marred by inconsistencies in audio quality and a difficulty to maintain her vocal traits for the characters from scene to scene in some places. In this book I didn't notice a single fault on her end at all. Her masculine tone works perfectly fine for the male characters, and she didn't struggle slipping right back into Nahash's voice at all. I especially loved the audio effects used for the demonic voices. Makes me wish a woman could do that with her voice IRL when demanding that I finish.

All in all I highly recommend this book. I'm totally not jealous that I can't summon my own goat demon gf to wring me out like a washcloth nightly. I think there's a follow-up book featuring the characters? At least that is what some reviews have said. It's a damn shame that it isn't on Audible.

I'm going to start this review by expressing what I liked about the series. Afterwards, I will go into the things I didn't like.

Firstly, and this might sound odd, but I really appreciated that the author had some darker circumstances surrounding Silva and Kuro's history with this previous "guardian." It's rare, in my experience after dozens of harem-lit titles, to see r*pe and sexual assault in the backstories of an MC's harem members. It's not often stated bluntly, but conversations I've had with authors of the genre have made it known that a lot of the male readers prefer "purity" in the female characters joining an MC's harem. So to see women that some readers would call dirty, sullied, or "damaged goods" was a direction that I greatly respect. I'd love to see more authors do this instead of leaning into the fantasy that every woman an MC touches must be a virgin.

Next, I think the stark differences between Silva, Kuro, and Elsa in both physical appearance and personality were good choices. Each girl was unique, and it showed. The "helpless damsel," the "stoic amazon," and the "childhood friend" aspects were just far enough apart from each other to be realistic and keep the characters from treading on each other's personal traits.

Finally, the last thing I appreciated was the attempt at world-building. The author took time to flesh the world out while doing it in a way that felt natural. Too often authors will go into long explanations or monologs that try to force lore down the reader's throat. This happens early on, especially, so that they can then focus solely on the narrative they want to tell. It takes a good author to achieve a proper balance.

Those were the good things, but now for the bad. We'll start with the fact that the story felt like a Nekopara fanfiction. If I remember, the term "Cat-panion" was also used in Nekopara. Personally, I find both the term and the heavy leaning of the similar lore to be one of the most off-putting parts of the series.

I get that the story was written to appeal to the "anime catgirl fantasy," but the amount of anime references and tropes are so thick that it actually shatters your immersion in the story. I get it, it's a weeb series for weeks, but had the author cut back just 80% on that, the series would have been better for it. We got a half-japanese professor, a Japanese housewife, and the seemingly American black catgirl named Kuro (which means "black" in Japanese). Honestly, I would have named Kuro something different, but with a similar meaning, like Sable. Means "black," it sounds sexier, and is much more Western.

The regulations and laws surrounding catgirls in the universe are ridiculous, heavy-handed, and completely unrealistic. These are sapient beings. Women who are somehow both equal members of society, but are also unequal. I get that catgirls are some weird genetic aberration in the series, which ISN'T explained at all, but it feels like the author doesn't know how laws actually work. Catgirls in the series are somehow a protected species, but are also second-class citizens due to the "protections" afforded to them. If the author would have just made them a pets to be owned, or women with equal rights to humans, the lore would have made sense, but not both at the same time. Like imagine being told you can't be with someone you fall in love with because you don't pass some asinine series of screenings that don't actually do anything helpful. "I'm sorry, but you're not emotionally/financially/physically capable enough to be with this woman who can think, act, and work for herself." Author, my dude, you're trying way too hard. No society would ever function this way, because everything contradicts itself. Not only that, but your books take place in Southern California of all places. The Bill of Rights and the Civil Rights Act would also apply to catgirls, which is a fact that fundamentally ruins your established lore. Nekopara got away with it because it wasn't so heavy-handed, but this series constantly throws these weird real-world Terms of Service in your face almost constantly.

My advice to the author, if he ever considers a sequel series, is to first retcon a lot of the nonsensical legal b.s. that deals with catgirls. Next, stop 80% of the anime tropes, let the story be its own thing and not Nekopara. If you do an audiobook, please encourage the female narrator to experiment with more of a range of voices for the female cast. Jessica Threet does am amazing job in the "Tamer: King of Dinosaurs" series, I'd suggest listening to it, and let the woman do her thing. Finally, if you're going to have muscular characters, make sure the cover art reflects that. I hate to say it, but Chris and Kuro look nothing like how they are described.

To my fellow listeners. There are good things here, but you need to endure some of the bad to enjoy them.

Honestly, when I stumbled across this book I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy it. I wasn't familiar with the author, but I have listened to similarly themed books, and the thought of a dommy mommy alien cat girl was rather enticing.

The story is enjoyable, and the characters were good. Stanly is a little bit of a whiney manlet, though, but I'm probably projecting how I would have handled the situation onto his character. Raz was rather sexy to me, to be honest. I loved her personality, as rough around the edges as it was, she could choke me anytime. The world building was also surprising given how short the book is, and I would encourage the author to return to the setting in the future with different characters. Perhaps something more harem themed with how the Borealis are normally more pack focused.

Aside from how childish the MC could be on occasion, the only other criticism I can really lob is that the narration quality was hit or miss. There are several spots where you can tell that Miss Black had cut and resumed recording in mid-chapter without reviewing the previous audio and warming up to match the tone and cadence of what she previously recorded. She also entirely forgot or confused the accents she used for a few of the characters. I also personally think she puts too much husk in her voice when it isn't necessary, which can't be good for her vocal stamina, and probably helps contribute to the fluctuations in the vocal quality. There are points where you can hear her natural tone of speech, which I honestly find more intoxicating then when she tries to lay the "sexy" husk on too thick. Regardless, she's clearly talented in her craft, I just worry she might be burning the candle at both ends when she records.

All in all, the story was fun and sexy. Give it a listen.

The story is pretty good. The MC was a bit more passive in the second half than I'd like. Also, the best girl's New England "Harley Quinn" accent was a poor choice in my opinion. Especially since she is half-Chinese and half-Russian. That's the only criticism that I can make currently.

I've listened to 1 - 3. They are good books, and I appreciate how vague the author leaves the height of the goblins in this book. Way too often authors make goblin girls human-sized. It extremely off-putting and makes them less unique.

My only real complaint is one prevalent in this genre. You have these sexy bisexual and lesbian women, but they hardly, if ever, touch each other. There needs to be a bonus chapter of Suzie, Jackie, and Isolda doing what should have happened. For a genre directed at men, these authors seem to ignore some of the most common male fantasies.

Aside from criminal lack of women kissing, it's a great series.

I'm always interested in spicey romance books and have been looking into sapphic stuff here and there. To call this "slow burn" would be an understatement, but the story is less about the romance and more about the overarching plot.

The lore is interesting. It's somewhat reminiscent of other tales involving societies messing with things they do not fully comprehend. However, I do find the art deco/steampunk aesthetic appealing. All in all it's a great book if you're looking for 98% story and 2% smut. I think I would have appreciated a bit more smut, to be honest.

As a final note. If they/them pronouns mess with your immersion, you might want to approach this book carefully. It isn't subtle here.

I've listened to every one of these books so far, and I can comfortably say that this series is one of my favorites. The first two or three books were more gritty, which I do prefer a bit more, but this book still had edge to it. The previous book with the oni was good, but it felt a bit weak compared to the other books in the series. Thankfully, the author seems to be pacing things better with this one.

I think I really only have two complaints with this volume. One, I would have liked a bit more sexual tension in the long run, even if it was one-sided for several chapters. Two, I've really become interested in the deeper lore and subplot of this series, but this volume was a bit too light on the latter. Sure, the ending was one hell of a cliffhanger, but I had hoped to see more development in the overall mysterious subplot. One thing this book did do was make me want my own buxom minotaur milk mommy. All in all, I highly recommend.
