Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Needs pruning
Revisado: 04-23-25
I loved the characters but there were way too many with way too many details. I tried to figure out the purpose, but gave up and moved on in the book.

Historia
Helen arrives in Appalachian Ohio full of love and her boyfriend’s ideas for living off the land. Too soon, with winter coming, he calls it quits. Helped by Rudy - her government-questioning, wisdom-spouting, seasonal-affective-disordered boss - and a neighbor couple, Helen makes it to spring. Those neighbors, Karen and Lily, are awaiting the arrival of their first child, a boy, which means their time at the Women’s Land Trust must end. So Helen invites the new family to throw in with her.

Great
Revisado: 02-12-25
Great book. Great characters. Great performance. I loved everything except the inclusion of the “he said” and “she said”.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-09-24
I was disappointed in the story line. It was too long, too much unnecessary description.

Not Realistic but It has Some Good Ideas

Declutter the concept
Revisado: 05-27-23
I wish she had chosen to present her ideas without negating the ideas of others. It diminished her ideas and was not necessary.
