Historia
Deep new rifts are tearing apart the fabric of Britain and other Western societies: thriving cities versus the provinces, the highly skilled elite versus the less educated, wealthy versus developing countries. As these divides deepen, we have lost the sense of ethical obligation to others that was crucial to the rise of post-war social democracy. So far these rifts have been answered only by the revivalist ideologies of populism and socialism, leading to the seismic upheavals of Trump, Brexit and the return of the far right in Germany.

Loved the book and it's reading. Truly dislike that the chapter's titles and book sections are not laid out by Audible. It also does not allow users to place titles on the book chapters for personal viewing in one's Library. Please fix this Audible.

Historia
Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo have pioneered the use of randomized control trials in development economics. Work based on these principles, supervised by the Poverty Action Lab, is being carried out in dozens of countries. Drawing on this and their 15 years of research from Chile to India, Kenya to Indonesia, they have identified wholly new aspects of the behavior of poor people, their needs, and the way that aid or financial investment can affect their lives. Their work defies certain presumptions: that microfinance is a cure-all, that schooling equals learning....

Honestly a beautiful well-intentioned, thorough, and consistent narrative. Major respect for the economist couple. Looking forward to more works.

Drawing on vast data sets and cutting-edge research, he explains the benign and malign forces that make inequality rise and fall within and among nations. He also reveals who has been helped the most by globalization, who has been held back, and what policies might tilt the balance toward economic justice.

Very original and interesting concepts raised in this book. As a budding economist, would definitely recommend. Anyone with a passion for Economics or who will like to see inequality issues solved, should definitely have a listen.
