Historia
In the northernmost reaches of Scotland, where a string of little islands in the North Sea stretches towards Norway, lives Gertie MacIntyre, a proud island girl by birth. Her social circle is small but tight: family and friends, particularly the women in her knitting circle. In the whitewashed cottages of their hometown, everyone knows everyone, and the ladies of the knitting circle know more than most. In a place of long dark winters and geographic isolation, the knitting circle is a precious source of gossip, home, laughter, and comfort for them all.

Enjoyable story & with character detail

The narrator is so pleasant to listen to. The story isn’t a heavy read/listen but it captured my imagination.

Rich and immersive
Revisado: 06-15-23
The author’s descriptions of the characters, the nuances of a setting and the Kentucky landscape was so well done you could picture yourself in the scene.
The author gave her characters depth and yet left room for future stories to continue to explore the Honey & Cussy as well as Pearl and Bonnie etc.

Historia
Sophie Fitzosborne lives in a crumbling castle in the tiny island kingdom of Montmaray with her eccentric and impoverished royal family. When she receives a journal for her sixteenth birthday, Sophie decides to chronicle day-to-day life on the island. But this is 1936, and the news that trickles in from the mainland reveals a world on the brink of war. The politics of Europe seem far away from their remote island—until two German officers land a boat on Montmaray. And then suddenly politics become very personal indeed.

Quite enjoyable
Revisado: 02-17-23
I read several of the less than favorable reviews and was quite hesitant to spend the time reading this book. Reviews, I was reminded, are opinions. I found this book quite enjoyable esp when you remember it is written so that you are reading someone’s journal. Like real life, a journal will not be as longitudinal in its flow of events as it would be had it been written strictly as a story.
I also read this book I think it is intended to be an introduction to the next book.
I like Emma Bering’s performance and it amplified the drama and emotions that draw you into a story.
My only criticism is perhaps the author could have been more descriptive in painting the scenery. But, if I wanted a book too wordy that dragged on & on I would have re-read “The Grapes of Wrath”.

Historia
Eloise Foley, known to her friends as Weezie, has been through the divorce from hell. Her ex-husband Tal (aka Talmadge Evans III) was awarded their house in Savannah's historic district, the house that Weezie had spent years painstakingly restoring to its original splendor. Weezie was awarded the two-bedroom carriage house on the same property. Each was sure the other would sell.

Rare to listen to a book with few stops
Revisado: 05-18-21
The narrator of this book is excellent. She has a smooth Southern accent with the gentle nuances of coastal GA/SC. I have a very hard time listening to male narrators as they seem to have a difficult time in giving characters their own voice.
Mary Kate Andrews does a great job at fleshing out characters and weaving a complex trail of “whodunit”. Her female protagonists invariably are strong women with wide independent strengths.

Credible and thought provoking
Revisado: 02-03-21
1st: This is the first podcast I’ve chosen that I’ve listened to all the way through. Most of the time I’m bored.
I am a late comer to politics in any meaningful way. And by late comer, I mean 65 yo. As a life long health care provider, I recognized immediately the gross mishandling of the covid pandemic. The misinformation and lack of cohesive message along with the abhorrent actions of Trump followers has lit a fire I cannot seem to extinguish.
Politics is increasingly confrontational and polarized causing tremendous tension and heightened emotions. I’m empathic as well as ADHD and this overwhelms me. But, we are at a moral, ethical and ideology crisis driven by greed and desire for power from those who control the gold.
The panel for this podcast were insightful and thought provoking. I gained a lot of insight into the machinations of the political side of government. I’m looking forward to additional podcasts and especially hearing more from your 3 guests.

Great storyline, mediocre telling of it
Revisado: 03-19-19
This book sits somewhere between steamy romance and historical fiction. Following the lives of a noblewoman and a nobleman, betrothed at the noblewoman's birth, the author writes a tale of pride, strength, love and war encompassed in miscommunication.
The storyline is well worth telling, but, the author focuses too much on describing the emotions and physical contact rather than filling out the characters and building smooth time transitions.

Well researched, lacks heart
Revisado: 03-16-19
I admire Matilda and have enjoyed reading about her for years. The author has done a wonderful job weaving an imagined tale containing authentic details of medieval life.
I loved the narrator’s voice. The tone and inflection was so arrogantly irritating I couldn’t complete the recorded version.

Intriguing story - narration dull
Revisado: 09-17-17
Would you try another book from Emma Campion and/or Heather Wilds?
I will definitely read another book by Emma Campion. I won't listen to another book narrated by Heather Wilds. Ms. Wilds has a pleasing voice, but, her reading style was flat and did not make the background come alive. Her ability to give the characters different voices was adequate. I found I was losing my place often because I was bored.
Would you be willing to try another one of Heather Wilds’s performances?
no
Did A Triple Knot inspire you to do anything?
Reading about Joan of Kent in "Triple Knot" sparked my interest in discovering more. I often found myself lost researching more of Britain, Normandy, and other French regions during the 12th - 16th centuries.
Any additional comments?
I think I would have enjoyed 'reading' this book rather than listening.
