Just a wonderful delight to be back in this world. Claudia Gray knows her X-Files and there are Easter eggs throughout. Mulder and Scully are not out of character and it picks up the pieces after after season 11.Saskia Maarleveld is fantastic a narrator as ever. Perfect combo.

The story is gripping and the narrator just brings it to a whole other level. She is soooo good. I hope they have her continue the rest of the series because she is brilliant.

A more fluffy Kinsale story
Revisado: 08-06-18
I feel like I always want to give Laura Kinsale's books a try because Nicholas Boulton's narration is top notch. She is a great writer and I always end up getting invested from the start..however towards the middle It feels like a lot of unnecessary angst sometimes or the angst is just too prolonged so that by the end I'm frazzled. I'm happy to say that Lessons in French doesn't have as much angst as her other novels. It's more lighthearted and probably one of my favorites from her. Give it a try if you need a break from some of her other more tension filled novels.

Storytelling at its best
Revisado: 11-13-17
This novel is all about love, selflessness, loyalty and perseverance amidst adversity. This is by far one of the best fairy-tale retellings that I have read and listened to.
Sorcha makes difficult decisions, and you feel a bond with her. Not one character is flat, and you feel as if you know them personally. And as the listener you start to see the bigger picture that Marillier is painting. Not one character means more than another, because somehow they are all intertwined.
Daughter of the Forest was simply magical. There is something about the way Juliet Marillier tells a story. It feels like you are sitting at a campfire and she is addressing only you, just weaving her tale. Her writing is an art form. You think you know what a good book is, and then you actually hear one and...wow.
Terry Donnelly does an excellent job with the narration and just helps bring the story to life. #AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

Historia
Gabriela Mistral

He was a predator. So was she.
Revisado: 11-05-17
If Marcelline Noirot were sorted into Hogwarts I think she'd be in Slytherin. She is definitely cunning, resourceful, and ambitious, in a wonderful way. She is by far my favorite heroine in a romance novel and just so confident and independent. I enjoyed all the ways she left Clevedon sort of flummoxed at every turn.
All the characters introduced in the book were people you'd want to know more about and the story was pretty nicely paced.
I had never heard Kate Reading narrate anything but fantasy, but I have to say she did a really great job here and I look forward to hearing more of her performances.
Thanks Audible, for making this part of the Romance Package, because I never would of tried it otherwise. Now on to book 2!

Historia
At seven minutes past midnight, thirteen-year-old Conor wakes to find a monster outside his bedroom window. But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting - he’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the nightmare he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments. The monster in his backyard is different. It’s ancient. And wild. And it wants something from Conor. Something terrible and dangerous. It wants the truth.

Story was cathartic and so very true...
Revisado: 07-15-16
What did you love best about A Monster Calls?
To be honest it was the end when the fourth tale began and Conor told his truth...
What other book might you compare A Monster Calls to and why?
I don't really read a lot of books about grief and death but one comes to mind. There is a children's book called, 'My Father's Arms Are A Boat' by Stein Erik Lunde and Oyvind Torseter that deal with sorrow and grief and like this book the illustrations are heavy on the page and almost anointed with mourning and anguish.
Have you listened to any of Jason Isaacs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first time hearing him as narrator and I have to say he did an amazing job. There is a lot of emotion to convey and for some characters not to convey and he did all of them. He ran the gamut of emotions and I think this book is great but his narration made the book even greater for me.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The last half of the book is what got to me. It made me cry and then sit in silence for a while.
Any additional comments?
This story offers comfort to those who have gone through something similar, but even if you haven't you would still feel the truths in this story.
