Historia
From the legendary actor and best-selling author: a novel about the making of a star-studded, multimillion-dollar superhero action film...and the humble comic books that inspired it. Funny, touching, and wonderfully thought-provoking, while also capturing the changes in America and American culture since World War II.

Invested

I became quite invested in the characters and story line. The poignant thread of little boy briefly encountering a brave (yet haunted) uncle begins and ends a wondrous tale.

Historia
The "give me four minutes" request of the title of this audiobook emphasizes the author’s cogent capsule of thought concept. Every insight can be quickly heard in four minutes or less. It is intended that each offering will hold a truth that the listener can quickly hear, but will want to ruminate on to refresh their mind and spirit a few minutes longer than four.

Historia
Growing up in rural Mississippi just a couple of miles from the Mississippi River, white eight-year-old boy Buddy spends his summers playing in the woods behind his neighborhood. The day Buddy spots a wounded deer in those woods, he is wholly unprepared for a chance meeting with a stranger who will shape the course of his life. Jake - an older African-American fisherman, ex-convict, former tent preacher - and Buddy form an unlikely bond that transcends age and race.

Heartwarming and full of emotion
Revisado: 10-07-22
Deeply engaging coming-of-age in rural Mississippi. Deals with so much of life, struggle, meaning, purpose, and the age-old question of why there is evil and sorrow in the world. The narration really compliments the story. I appreciate a glimpse into Mississippi, into the Episcopal church, and the value of a wise mentor to a child.

Classic narration
Revisado: 02-23-16
40 years ago I was introduced to the allegory in print version. Nearly 30 years ago I had the joy of owning & listening to a cassette recording by Nadia May. Having worn out the tapes, I thought the beloved voice was forever lost. This story has impacted my spiritual life more than any other singular source. The Audible version is a gift to my soul. Nadia May's voice is just as I remember it and I am grateful.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Moving and instructional

Deeply moving story. Felt like I was experiencing France during WWII from those left at home. When the soldiers shipped out of the villages the remaining families had to fight their own war battles with equal courage and risk.
