Loved the sex scenes. Victor was yummy--great narrator voices-- and the heroine was smart, definitely not TSTL. Plot didn't depend on dumb mistakes or lack of communication, but was a genuinely an interesting novel idea. Had a bit of the flavor of an original Star Trek episode, but with enough spice to set the TV on fire.
Thanks for keeping me up all night again listening to your irresistible storytelling, Evangeline...

One thing I love about this book is that I LIKE almost every character. We don't spend much time with whiny, evil, boring or just plain depressing people.
There's plenty of believable personal growth, without stewing In immature angst.
There's communication, cooperation, community, and grown-up love along with passion.
Everything to love. Thanks again, Jo!
I enjoyed this narrator as well, plenty of emoting without being strident. Yay!

Molly Harper is very entertaining!

Jane and Gabriel have a very snarky,
sparring relationship --with some sexual chemistry.
It's not roses and walks on the beach, though.
Jane's beginning evolution as a vampire is
convincing, funny --and violent in spots.
The supporting characters are interesting
and often annoyingly believable.
A great listen!

Andre Norton’s Witch World series are excellent tales of romance and fantasy. This story is a stand-alone, featuring a very strong female lead, shapeshifters and magic. Andre’s magic users operate mainly by will and imagination, refreshingly unencumbered by specific rituals or religion.
