What did you love best about Unnatural Habits?

Kerry Greenwood has put together another excellent plot with Phrynne having to solve a number of disappearances with the help of her minions. Once again Stephanie Daniels gives a great performance.

Which character – as performed by Stephanie Daniel – was your favorite?

Phrynne is as always, my favourite character in the book and Stephanie gives her the exact voice I woulod expect her to have.

Any additional comments?

This series is a great collection of detective mysteries with the added bonus of learning about life in Australia in the twenties. Each book provides a list of interesting characters and plots and simply a lovely piece of entertainment.

What did you love best about Stasis?

The original plot in the fantasy world. Well developed charachters with a quite nasty antagonist. A story of a world that uses and accepts magic as part of the everyday.

What did you love best about Cold Days?

Once again Jim Butcher brings us into his magical world with a great plot, many twists and cliffhangers before Harry once again emerges the victor after much sacrifice.

Which character – as performed by James Marsters – was your favorite?

Harry Dresden James Marsters is Harry Dresden and I cannot imagine anyone else reading these books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are always plenty of tears and laughs in a Harry Dresden book.

Any additional comments?

James Marsters is a master of the performance of an audio book. His voice is excellent, his cast of charachter voices unbelievable and consistent. It's a pleasure to listen and hard to turn it off to get back to RL especially when combined with the writings of Jim Butcher.

What made the experience of listening to Urn Burial the most enjoyable?

The author winds an excellent plot through a cast of interesting and varied charachters in a period piece that takes us back to early Australia.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Phryne is my favourite charachter. What's not to like about an extremly accomplished, clever woman who is very much in control of herself and who copes well with surprises and difficulties.

What does Stephanie Daniel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The reader brings the story alive with excellent charachter portrayals. The audio book is a favourite of mine as I can listen while I do other things. The performance of the reader raises it to entertainment.

Any additional comments?

Excellent story, very well read.

What did you love best about The Woman in White?

The story is a clever mystery whilst being a wonderfully immersive historical piece that provides a great insight and experience into the world of 19th century England.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Woman in White?

The story provided several excellent twists, and drew the reader in to champion the main charachters.

Have you listened to any of Josephine Bailey and Simon Prebble ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I've heard the two readers and I loved their approach and delivery. It was pleasant to listen, over such a long book, to two different voices. I thought that perhaps listening to different voices for the same charachters might be confusing but it wasn't. The reading enhanced the story and the accents were well done.

Larry Niven has created an interesting story with a weel fleshed out strange and new world. His charachters are nicely developed and the story rides along at a reasonable pace drawing the reader in.
Tom Parker has a good voice and mostly kept in voice for each charachter. I occassionally had trouble hearing the difference between what was actually narrator and the main charachter Louie.
This is the first part in a trilogy and the book abruptly ends with the heros still far away from their home worlds.
I did not think it is a must have book but I did enjoy it and wanted to see where the story went. I will continue into the next book.

I loved this story. It has a great plot, some excellent charachter development and is a new and interesting take on the world of Vampires. I am also a huge fan of the narrator James Marsters. He has a great voice to listen to, very good character voices (even his women) and he reads as though he is sitting by your bed reading a story to you - with a natural, warm voice that justs pulls you into the story.

I have only listened to this book once and did it over three days because I really liked it so I will have to go back and listen again before I would comment with any depth.

The vampires have risen up and defeated mankind in the colder countries of the world such as England and Europe and pushed human society into the equatorial areas of Egypt, Asia and the Americas.

Technology is steam powered and the book is a Steampunk fans dream with fantastical machines, gas powered weaponry, dirigbles, lighting, etc. I know I want to get me a long military coat, long skirt, gloves, goggles and let my steampunk child out.

The Vampires are quite savage, have little use for technology and in fact have almost no fine motor skills or touch with their hands so are basically incapable of using much in the way of technology. In their realms humans are bred and raised like cattle and used for food and as servants.

The book follows the adventures of Princess Adele and the mysterious Greyfriar after she becomes trapped in the Vampire Realms and attempts to escape the Vampire courts who want her for their own agenda. There are twists and turns though I had guessed fairly early the identity of Greyfriar.

This books is good fun and a good listen/read. Can't wait for JM to read book 2.

I bought this book because I love tales of Vampires and the Supernatural. The Vampires here were okay but this is a romance novel and there are just way too many sex scenes that did not add to the story and seemd to go forever. The one problem with an audio is it is hard to skip to jump over scenes that slow you and I was pressing fast forward on this one far too much. I also disliked the voice given to Lothaire.
I liked the story premise and I did want to see where it went so much so I would love to see a rewrite without all the sex but I won't be bothering Ms Cole again for the forseeable future.

I really enjoyed this book. It is well written, and a subject matter that would interest anyone from parents wanting the best for their kids to older folks wishing to live a happier, healthier, brainier life. the narrator was very easy to listen to, the subject is presented in an every day language whilst still having the scientific information to make it a valuable text book to improve one's life. I would and have already recommend this book for anyone wishing to get the most out of life and if you or someone you know suffers ADHD/Dementia/Alzeimers of just loss of memory from aging then this book has a really simple plan that most of us could follow.

I enjoyed this introduction to the wizard Harry Dresden quite a bit. The reading by James Masters seems to suit the character well and I easliy felt his fustrations, self doubt, innate desire to do good and his human failings. In other words the character was well brought to life for me and I am already most of the way through the second book with the third already in my library and the 4th soon to join them.
A good read/listen.
