Interesting story but...
Revisado: 05-04-17
I went into this book not knowing a whole lot about the story line. I really like reading books that get made into movies. The general concept of this book was interesting however it seemed to reach farther and farther outside of reality and took a while to reach the true climax if the story. I never really was clear on how much time had passed throughout the story, which I think could have helped anchor my understanding. The ending with the fish tank (don't want to give away anything) seemed strange and unnecessary. I liked the concept of this book and look forward to the movie but had hoped for a lil better writing. Oh and my last issue was, why did it have to be read by a guy? The story is from a women's perspective... I think having it read by a women would have been a way better fit. His voice is fine enough (did have a bit of a suspense movie trailer voice the entire time which was a tiny bit irritating) but I do think a women's voice would have much better.

Love Lena and her show Girls but...
Revisado: 10-02-16
I got this book because I had just binge watched GIRLS. I did not care for this very much at all. I felt like the flow of the book was scattered and discombobulated. There were lots of lists she kinda just rambles about. I was really interested in what she had to say just wish it would have been laid out in a better flow. Definitely disappointed.

Hard to believe this horrible treatment is still happening to this community! Good for her in having the courage to take a stand for herself at such a young age.

Historia
This powerful, moving story - which has already touched more than seven million through a viral video created by the Whittington family - is a mother's firsthand account of her emotional choice to embrace her transgender child. When Hillary and Jeff Whittington posted a YouTube video chronicling their five-year-old son Ryland's transition from girl to boy, they didn't expect it to be greeted with such fervor.

Awesome story! But....
Revisado: 03-11-16
This story was so vwry interesting! I can't wait to hear more about Ryland and family as they continue their journey. The only thing I will say as a critique is that Hilary's reading was a tiny bit monotonous. She didn't quite have the voixe inflection I would have like to tell such an emotional (at times) story. My propas out to her for reading it herself though as I can only imagine how hard that is.

Had high hopes...
Revisado: 12-18-15
I had high hopes for this story as it got great reviews and a ton of buzz when the movie came out. I found it to just meh.... Wasn't all that interested in the characters didn't seem to have much character development. Also found it hard to fully understand due to the different British terms used. I get that it was a British story but made it harder to follow for me... Bummer.

Historia
Finally, a book about open marriage that grapples with the problems surrounding monogamy and fidelity in an honest, heartfelt, and non-fringe manner. Jenny Block is your average girl next door, a suburban wife and mother for whom married life never felt quite right. While many books on this topic presuppose that the listener is ready to embrace an "alternative lifestyle", Block operates from the assumption that most couples who are curious about or engaged in open marriages are in fact more like her - normal people who question whether monogamy is right for them.

Book full of great insights!
Revisado: 04-27-15
This book has a lot of great info in it! I had been trying to find books that spoke to polyamory/open relationships and find a good source of that here. With hearing her different stories through life you get to know the gradual evolution she went through and the challenges that came up. Good read if you are also searching for more insight and understanding of this life style.
And the narrator did a great job as well. A few glitches with the audio from time to time but over all not distracting.
