Fun, exciting and educational
Revisado: 08-31-21
This was a great listen! The narrator did a great job giving voice to the characters. Also I was wondering how she would voice the nonbinary mc Sorin. That was also exceptionally done.
The book is set in a fantasy setting, there’s not a lot of world building but there is a lot of attention to culture and cultural developments. Despite being a fantasy there are lots of parallels to this day and age.
I’m very curious about the second book in this series. This book was a joy!

Heartwarming and fun!
Revisado: 12-26-19
This book is about Amy, who lives a not so challenging life until something mysterious happens in the motorway service station she is working. A regular customer (the mysterious woman of her dreams) had not shown up and Amy calls the police to report her missing. The police don't take her serious and so she starts her owd detective work. She discovers the mystery woman of her dreams is way more mysterious than she first gave her credit for. Things blow up just when she wants to go on a camping trip with her friend Kerry. They end up as fugitives to prove their innocence.
Listening to this book was a blast! I did not know what to expect of it and ended up laughing out loud several times (and getting funny faces from passersby). Amy is a likeable character and also very quip and witty in her interaction with others. Especially with Claudia, the ex-MI 5 agent who is hunting her. I enjoyed listening to the journey of Amy and Kerry to avoid being caught. They are amateurs who by accident do the right things and come across as mastermind criminals, just hilarious! The side characters they meet are contributing to the feel-good of this book.
I would describe this book as an action-comedy. Not the kind of action with explosions and gunfire, but more the "keeps it interesting" kind of action. When you are in for a fun read where the focus is not on the romance of the story, you should give this book a go.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Rebecca McKernan. Although I normally tend to favour the lower pitch voices, McKernan did a great job narrating (also the funny parts), making listening to this book a joy.

Great story, mediocre narrator..
Revisado: 12-06-15
I love Melissa Brayden! Although I have read all her stories, listening is great too. I did not like the narrator as her voices for the different persons in the storily hardly differ. There was actually no difference between Brooklyn and Mallory. This was annoying.
