Historia
Born in Leipzig, Germany, into a Jewish family, Eddie Jaku was a teenager when his world was turned upside-down. On November 9, 1938, during the terrifying violence of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, Eddie was beaten by SS thugs, arrested, and sent to a concentration camp with thousands of other Jews across Germany. Every day of the next seven years of his life, Eddie faced unimaginable horrors in Buchenwald, Auschwitz, and finally on a forced death march during the Third Reich’s final days.

Heartbreakingly honest and beautiful.
Revisado: 09-02-22
This book changed my perspective on my personal trials, gave me great admiration and sympathy for those that endured the Holocaust.
Eddie is so kind, compassionate and raw. Beautifully written and should be read by all, at least once,

Historia
Liz Talbot thinks she's seen another ghost when she meets Calista McQueen. She's the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe. Born precisely fifty years after the ill-fated star, Calista's life has eerily mirrored the late starlet's - and she fears the looming anniversary of Marilyn's death will also be hers. Before Liz can open a case file, Calista's life coach is executed. Suspicious characters swarm around Calista like mosquitoes on a sultry low country evening: her certifiable mother, a fake aunt, her control-freak psychoanalyst, a private yoga instructor, her peculiar housekeeper, and an obsessed ex-husband.

Breezy book, not my favorite narrator
Revisado: 08-31-22
The first half of the book felt very cliché, but I continued to listen, and the story line improved!
I still never could enjoy the narrator’s thick drawl, but that’s just my opinion.
The second half and ending were great! Almost makes me want to look for another book by this author, but with a different narrator.

Historia
Getting a life isn't always easy. And hanging on to it is even harder.... Jodi Taylor brings all her comic writing skills to this heartwarming tale of self-discovery. Known as The Nothing Girl because of her severe stutter and chronically low self-confidence, Jenny Dove is only just prevented from ending it all by the sudden appearance of Thomas, a mystical golden horse only she can see. Under his guidance Jenny unexpectedly acquires a husband - the charming and chaotic Russell Checkland.

Enjoyable even without any prior military/sun knowledge
Revisado: 06-10-22
I really enjoyed listening to this book! I have no prior knowledge of subs or military interest/experience, but was enthralled by how devoted each crew member was and the secrecy behind their arduous mission.
Would definitely recommend.

Part memoir, part comedy routine, part advice manual, Challenge Accepted! is Celeste at her best, revealing her secrets to love, friendship, family, and marriage (oh hai, #hothusband), and how to deal with life’s many challenges - why she checks the bath for sharks, how Nutella quite literally shaped who she is as a woman, and why being famous on Instagram is like being rich in Monopoly. It’s real, like totally, really real.

I REALLY wanted to love her/this book!
Revisado: 12-15-20
I REALLY wanted to love her/this book, but it just felt to be a bit monotonous towards the end.
She seemed genuine, entertaining and had some seriously funny parts, but I think it could have been trimmed down and been all the more fantastic!
Something to listen to for a breezy day and brighten your mood.
Side note, I wasn’t impressed on her multiple digs to the US president (got a bit old). But we are all entitled to our opinions... I just happened to have unwittingly paid for her political opinion. 😕
